Born in Baghdad a year before the Iraq war broke out and moved to Belgium as a refugee aged 5.

That can’t have been a picnic.

I’ve just the photo of Ameen standing alongside Kompany. He looks a tall and strong unit for a centre back....just the kind of young player we need. The future looks bright.

Not really been keeping up with the rumours so far. Keep seeing names being mentioned but not dug deeper. Is this the guy who has a decent turn of pace?

I know he's a defender and I have seen a bit of a YouTube reel but not a lot to go on.

So what do we know about him?

There are only a handful of clips of this lad online, and given that barely twelve months ago he was leaving Standard Liege for Sint Truiden for about 500k it is fair to say his rise has been pretty meteoric - but he's a really interesting proposition. Clearly Kompany rates him which is good enough but he's impressed at a good level in Belgium this season - and if he's tall (he is), quick and comfortable on the ball (we're told he is) thrn he's got a pretty good starting point. Will be interesting to see how he goes.

Don't know who is responsible for scouting these players, it might be predominantly VK. The team in charge are doing a fantastic job. How many players have we signed since Summer for a figure not a million miles to the one we paid for Dale Stephens. Wow how far have we come ?? and with TBH temporarily injured its absolute perfect timing. Have a good feeling about this lad

Ameen Al Dakhil, a defender so strong
On the field, he never does wrong
With his head held high and his eyes on the prize
He'll defend with all his might, till the end of the size

He clears the ball, with power and grace
Opponents find it hard to get past his place
With every tackle, he earns his team's trust
Ameen Al Dakhil, is a defender you can't bust

He organizes the defence, with a calm mind
His leadership, one of a kind
With every game, he shows his class
Ameen Al Dakhil, a defender of mass

With Burnley, he'll make his name
A defender, who'll never be tamed
So let us cheer, for this young star
Ameen Al Dakhil, a defender from Iraq, who'll go far

Remember when we signed Brian Easton?

I'll admit I know as much about Al Dakhil as I did about Easton but you just know this lad has been properly scrutinised and identified as a real prospect.

Presume this is because of THB injury and also because Longs gone . Will he be ahead of McNally? I know Vinny doesn’t like Taylor at CB ( does anyone ?) Looks like he’s here to play so be good to see him in action . This league needs quality CB’s .
