Re: Mini light show pre-match
I mean, it would be like Bakhmut, but with bits of pie everywhere and everyone screaming "Why isn't it the peppered steak?"
Re: Mini light show pre-match
I enjoyed it, brief as it was. And my son said 'it was well cool'.
Felt like a teaser of what we may get more of next season, and I for one welcome it.
I guess if it really upsets you, just go to your seat for the kick-off. No loss.

Glad to hear your son liked it. I imagine all the young ones did.
Hope you’re right and it is just a teaser.

Massive overreaction alert from What was a clearly tongue-in-cheek, flippant comment.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 2:11 pmWhat a sad, sick individual you must be to make a comment like that.
I attended two funerals last week, two old friends who had at least had long lives even though both had been blighted with illness in their closing years. Funerals are not fun, they are about paying respect, something that seems to fall some way short of your capabilities based on your comments on this thread.
That's me done with this crap.
Goodbye everyone. It's been emotional.

And when a "lights show, fireworks display or any American influenced rubbish" obscures your view of the football, you may have a valid reason to moan about it.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 12:23 pmFair point, call me old fashioned, but I go to football matches to watch football, and not to watch a lights show, fireworks display or any American influenced rubbish.

what are the odds on this kind of thing happening next - works for some though a lot of it is cultural - gotta love the kids stare down focus though

also note how quick others are to grab some of the same action (Detroit Pistons) as this went viral)

Re: Mini light show pre-match
Think that only works in American sport because there are so many breaks. You could only do it before the match and half time in football and a lot aren’t even in their seats.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 4:23 pmwhat are the odds on this kind of thing happening next - works for some though a lot of it is cultural - gotta love the kids stare down focus though

I get what you are saying and I did say it was cultural - but even at the times you mention you could see it being used
It won't be long before we have VAR breaks being sponsored - that is an introduction totally made for tv and further interruptions are being explored by FIFA for benefit of TV - they just do not label them as such

If you're going to use an example of sport getting spoiled by Americanisation's, I'd go with a clip of the Superbowl ads rather than a clip of a 20,000-seater inside stadium making a young boy's day. Can you imagine the capacity of the turf, but indoors?Chester Perry wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 4:23 pmwhat are the odds on this kind of thing happening next - works for some though a lot of it is cultural - gotta love the kids stare down focus though

Seemed awesome to me, he clearly loved it.
Ice Hockey isn't even that bad for breaks and interruptions compared to baseball and American football, the time is used well for breaks in the game when you're in the stadium and entertainment is great. It becomes much easier to entertain young kids and is more open to families than football currently is where most young kids are bored stiff bouncing round empty seats most of the game.
It's about improving the matchday experience for everyone, and not just for those watching the sport. Seeing a clip like that is more likely going to encourage another family to visit in the future, and so that the entire day can be fun, not just the match itself.

So many unanswered plot points....
- is he going to come back to see who has said goodbye?
- is he gone just from this thread, or from the platform entirely?
- what did he mean by emotional? Why that adjective and not another?
- Is Juan really from Guantanamo?
- do Juan and Fidel know each other?
- will there be a season 2?

Re: Mini light show pre-match
I thought it was brilliant, and it reflects well on the club. We have a habit of under selling ourselves as little old Burnley. If we want to bring in outside investment, showing ourselves as a modern, forward thinking club can only help.
Re: Mini light show pre-match
I didn't know our lights could do all that jazz. Looked good, like clouds passing over the pitch really quickly. I love a visual treat and that was all quite impressive. Get some claret and blue laser light firing off, pyro, everyone holding up their smartphone lights, go all in, 30 seconds of spectacle, kids would love it.

I think Alan and the new regime have done a great job so far with the stadium alterations. Still retains that traditional feel but with some modern touches.

Question re lights, not ours but Loftus Road.
I watched the Sunderland highlights, and it looked like the pitch was lit by a few blokes with torches. Did they have a problem or is it always that dark?

Ours are to current Premier league standards - which facilitate 8k cameras/broadcasting - it as been a while since Loftus Rd had to meet Premier League regulations, which have changed since that time -possibly twiceColburn_Claret wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 8:43 pmQuestion re lights, not ours but Loftus Road.

I think the new lighting requirements for the Premier League came in for the 2016/17 season. QPR have not been there in that time.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 8:43 pmQuestion re lights, not ours but Loftus Road.

First time seeing the light show tonight.
Having never met the guy, my first thought was ‘I bet JdRobbo is lovin it!’
Thought it was brilliant, just needs the Bulls music now instead of Jordan North!

I don’t mind it either way, but if we are going to do it can it can it be tuned with the players coming out or just before. There’s an odd gap of “nothing” between them both.

Sounds more like the cameras weren't set right. Modern TV cameras can make twilight look like full daylight, they're that good at making the most of the light available.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 8:43 pmQuestion re lights, not ours but Loftus Road.

I like the light show, (i'm 40) and a Cricket Fielder, it shows a nice bit of modernisation to our ground on top of the other improvements. It could do with some claret and blue lasers, and sync with when the players come out. Well done again BFC. The club is moving forwards.

It looked great fun on the TV tonight but those in the World Cup would have been disturbing for anyone suffering from a visual stress disorder, which is over 1% of people, not just epileptics. That really was a strobe-tastic lawyer’s nightmare but the Turf looked fairly mellow and built up the atmosphere well, I enjoyed it.

Edit wrong thread.
Re: Mini light show pre-match
In the old days football was largely the same experience at eg Spotland or Maine Road. What kid would want to go to Spotland now? The model is bust.
Re: Mini light show pre-match
I like it, but it baffles me that they have the ability to create light shows but not to make the PA system fit for purpose. Maybe they'll use lighting morse code to alert us of the need to evacuate??
