I think this is the first time I've seen acknowledgment from their end of the buy option

that is roughly £13.2m - I suspect a lot will depend on the payment terms for that to go through

Who knows what the figure is, it was suggested on this end to be less than 5m.

Could they be playing games? 15m seems a bit high to me (not that he's not worth it, but I just can't see us agreeing to that before the loan deal got approved, given the value of all our other deals).

I'd be surprised if we don't try to get him even at that price

A must buy at that price. But I do think there's a reasonable chance he's not telling the truth, or telling a very Moenchengladbach-favourable version of the truth.

Part of the reason transfer fees are undisclosed these days is because it generally suits both clubs. Buying clubs don't want to advertise if they're spending a lot and selling clubs don't want to advertise if they're selling cheap. This is also why rumours about undisclosed fees differ, as both sides give a favourable number for their sources in the media etc to quietly put out there. Now that they're clearly losing out, the idea of them not disclosing the fee is out of the window.

In this case, it seems pretty clear to everyone that giving us a buy option last summer was a huge boo boo. Herr Virkus coming out with an absolute figure feels a bit like it may be damage control.

It could also be a potential total value package of Euro 15m - which includes loan fee and all the add-ons such as becoming a full German International and retaining PL status for each year of the contract

That's about £13 million.

Steeper than I'd have liked but he's still worth it IMO

The Gibson deal was announced as £15 million wasn't it?
That included all the add-ons, which were never hit and we only paid just over half that amount, which we mainly recouped when we flogged him to Norwich

Not that the moaners acknowledged when they were beating the club over it

Beyer has been excellent for us… however whichever way we look at it 13m is a lot of money for a centre half unproven at premier league level

Unproven but he clearly has the ability. Would you rather have him or Harry Maguire ? Tyrone Mings?

I feel a bit disloyal to Waldron saying it, but I'd now say he's the best centre half I've seen at the club...

Think the key is the potential for a flip at significant profit - there are a number of clubs who could take him once he has proved himself for a year in the Premier League

Have a feeling the Borussia sporting director has been massaging the figures there. It's a price worth paying for such a high quality player, but my hunch is the 'basic' fee will be a bit lower than that. Either way, it's a no-brainer.

worth noting that The Athletic has said they were told upon first hearing we were getting beyer that the option to buy in his contract was seen as "unrealistic" this makes me think it is more likely the higher number than the earlier rumoured lower ones though if it is 15 million I think we should pay it happily

We might one day sell him to Bayern, City or Real Madrid for €60 million, but not until he’s taken us back into Europe as Burnley captain.

Imagine if we tried to sing a defender from the championship who’s highly rated and plays every week for a championship side - Harry Souttar went from Stoke to Leicester for £15m rising to £20m .

Who would you rather have?

If he develops this coming season as well as he has done so far he'll be gone next summer.

Is this the same guy who said there was not an agreed option to buy…..and then a few months later admitted there was one.

My guess is that they are trying to appease their own fans after letting go of a very good player who would probably walk into their side now.

It’s not the fee I have heard from the same person who told me there was an option to buy.

Irrespective of whether it’s true or not we have got ourselves an excellent player for not much money

I thought Collins was a great buy at between £12m-£15m, and we sold him for a profit. Beyer is a better footballer and young and we would be buying someone we know very well. His value, by playing in the PL could triple quite easily. Once our audit problems are resolved and we get the green light from the League ,we need to tie up Beyer, Tella and Maatsen as a minimum, and either buy THB or get him for another season loan.

Have seen Souttar play 3 times at the KP recently. He is a good honest raw defender who had a great World Cup and could develop, but Beyer is twice the player already

My understanding is that the transfer embargo would not prevent the Beyer signing now it has been confirmed it was part of the loan agreement - signing Beyer before the loan period ended would not constitute a new registration

Assuming VK wants Beyer and assuming Beyer wants Burnley……..£13 million quid is well worth it for him! A terrific young player who is absolutely at the heart of everything we have done this season!

Worth every penny. As EverSteady says above. He will be a full international.

The change in his physique this season is extraordinary.

Arrived as a promising but callow defender. He's an absolute beast now.

BM have every incentive to inflate the value of the sell on do you'd imagine the stated number is the upper end of the actual, committed fee. At the suggested numbers it's a no brainer. He's got all the potential that Collins had, except he's also got the game brain of Ben Mee.

Not many PL clubs will be picking up better centre halves for cheaper than that this summer. Even at 15m euros it's everything you could want from a footballing and business perspective. Incredible talent, ready-made for this team, seems settled here, still loads of room to improve, and we'll triple the initial fee on the sale a few years from now. Our single most important signing of the summer, and we've had enough time with him that any worries about it being a gamble have evaporated. The situation could not have been any more perfect for us.

Bargain price for such a prospect - sign him and unless he was to see his contract down, we’d be making a hefty profit.

He’s perhaps the most composed and calm defender I’ve seen playing for us. Not necessarily the best, yet, but certainly the most relaxed in possession.

Most games look a stroll for him. It always looks as though he has another two or three gears if he needs them.

Proper player.

Yeah my thinking is this is an exaggerated fee to try and appease their fans who are unhappy with the current transfer dealings and players who they'll be losing this summer. The amount seems to go up everytime they brief the German press and they started initially denying a clause even existed.

As said the €15m probably includes add ons and I'd also imagine they're including an estimated sell on in there too to push the figure higher.

No way they put such a big clause in there for a player they were happy to loan to the second tier of English football. It's more than they received for each of Zakaria and Embolo who went to Juventus and Monaco.

Without a doubt there will be 2 figures agreed depending on which division we ended up in. Both the 5 & 15 could very well be accurate
