Trophy presentation.
How do they determine when the title trophy is presented? Given we could win it on Saturday, will it be at Turf Moor in case? Or would they wait until the last home match? I assume they wouldn't allow it at Ewood! I am trying to work out if I should prepare for a possible presentation on Saturday if results go our way.
Re: Trophy presentation.
It’ll be after the the last match.
Re: Trophy presentation.
The Premier League present it at the final home game but the EFL have usually presented it following the match of Promotion. Not sure if they have changed it as I can't find much online. It was delayed in 2021 due to the social media blackout.

Just have it ready where ever we clinch it as it's not going anywhere else.

Curious as to what preparations you need to make.Turftalker wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 8:39 amHow do they determine when the title trophy is presented? I’m guessing it’s a delayed arrival back home but I’m hoping that you’re planning something properly out there!!

A presentation party will have an impact on my transport plans home. Anyone else with any sense of whether the trophy would be awarded Saturday?

Re: Trophy presentation.
Could be wrong, it has been known, but I would bet money on 2 things:
1, The trophy presentation will be after the last match of the season;
2, It will take place approximately 45 minutes after the final whistle, to a half empty stadium, which will be a shame.

Re: Trophy presentation.
In Cup finals the trophy is presented within 10 mins of the final whistle surely that could be done if we are already guaranteed the Championship Trophy ...CaptainKirk wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 5:21 pmCould be wrong, it has been known, but I would bet money on 2 things:

I wonder if they club will do an.open top bus tour after a town hall event, I'd love my grandkids to see it and create a lifelong memory.

Re: Trophy presentation.
It would be possible in theory. Unfortunately, I guess the pitch will be flooded with fans straight after the whistle making that impossible.

Re: Trophy presentation.
After the Cardiff game would be my bet.
Joking aside there are logistics involved in getting the trophy there and maximising the PR from the EFL’s point of view which they can choreograph when it’s a certainty rather than a possibility (however distinct that possibility is).

Re: Trophy presentation.
Showing my age maybe, but I’m not a fan of these new style trophy presentations. Back in the seventies and eighties the cup was handed to the captain who received it in a modest and dignified manner before raising it to the fans. It didn’t need any embellishments such as fireworks and tin foil.IrkthePurists wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 7:57 amAfter the Cardiff game would be my bet.

There seems to be a need to “jazz” everything up now which didn’t used to be the case.
And the same applies to lots of other forms of entertainment.
At least we got rid of goal music.

Re: Trophy presentation.
Last season - Fulham won the league on 2nd May when they battered luton 7-0.
The 2nd May was the game before the last game of the season, so I would expect the Trophy to be presented this weekend after the game if they manage to do it.

Burnley received the 4th division trophy in our last home game before the match.
We still had Rochdale away to play, but they like to give it on the home ground.

Re: Trophy presentation.
Considering the last time we won it, they had to make do with a blow up version.
Knowing the EFL it will turn up behind the plant pot or the wheely bins at the back of the Turf with note from EVRI saying your parcel has been put in a safe place

I am expecting it to be against Cardiff, irrelevant of the result against QPR.

Re: Trophy presentation.
on the assumption we win it I really really hope we do it the way Man City do with all the staff on the pitch making a line for the players to come out individually. The send off Ashley Barnes would get would be something else.

Weren't we going to get the trophy at Charlton though in the previous promotion campaign but decided not to because of the protests.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 11:57 amWas that their last home game though?

It may well be Cardiff and last home game of the season and whichever it is I will be there so no issue really.

We hadn't been crowned Champions though before the Charlton game. It was only after the game.clarethomer wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 3:23 pmWeren't we going to get the trophy at Charlton though in the previous promotion campaign but decided not to because of the protests.

Hence Sky and the EFL having the trophy at the Riverside. We secued promotion in the final home game that season (QPR) but not as champions

Serious question?arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 7:43 amI’m curious as to why the stadium would be half empty?
It is usually half empty within 30 seconds of the whistle going.
These days it will take half an hour minimum for all the hugging and back slapping and going to see their families etc before any thought is given to a trophy presentation. That is without a pitch invasion, which is a certainty of course.
They could always leg it straight off and go through the Cricket Field Stand and into Bob Lord and reappear in the Directors Box area to receive the trophy and that shouldn't take long.
My guess is 38 minutes from final whistle to lifting trophy and it will definitely be half empty - but I might be wrong!
I will check back the day after.
Re: Trophy presentation.
Charlton was the last match of the season and Middleborough were favourites to win the title. Add to that there were threats of protests at Charlton so they sent the trophy to Middlesbroughclarethomer wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 3:23 pmWeren't we going to get the trophy at Charlton though in the previous promotion campaign but decided not to because of the protests.

Complained to EFL during the days before, still the plastic trophy did the job and the Charlton fans contributed to the occasion showing how wrong the powers that be were.

Thanks for checking with the EFL. Pleasantly surprised how fast they replied to you.
