Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Some comments from Verbruggen in the Belgian press today:
“But I have agreed with everyone around me that I will now focus on the Dutch Juniors," Verbruggen continues. With the Dutch U21, he is preparing for the U21 European Championship. "I have very nice agents, who do all the work with the eye on transfers", said the goalkeeper, who emphasizes that Anderlecht is also a fantastic club. "If something nice comes along, I would always listen. Of course I'm open to that. But Anderlecht is also very beautiful."
At the Belgian top club, Verbruggen already worked with Vincent Kompany, who became champion in the Championship with Burnley. "I certainly have a good relationship with Kompany. We have worked well together. I have learned a lot from him. I am very grateful to him for that. He has done a fantastic job at Burnley. I really like that for him. I have him very highly as a trainer. I hope for him that he will achieve even more successes."

I thought VK had explained all thatjojomk1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 6:37 amExactly,
"how little he played"
Foster was raw to english football at any level but started games before him
Even with Jay injured he didn't start a league game
Barnes was starting even when VK had decided he was going at the end of the season
Obafemi had enough chances to start league games but VK chose to put him on the bench
Let's hope this electric pace he apparently has will scare the Premier League defenders next season

Just to throw another curveball into the goalkeeping discussion, Daily Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards is saying Leyton Orient keeper Lawrence Vigouroux is set to sign for us.

Frees up Franchi for a loan move.
Assuming we sign a new first choice competitor with Muric, and BPF moves on, this makes sense.
Verbruggen, Muric, Vigouroux; Franchi out on loan.

Yep 3rd keeper I reckon. Perhaps we will try loan out Franchi/Casper as well as Peacock-Farrell.

Looks to be predominantly a right winger.
South African so would know Foster and presumably Kompany and his team

Ex BHA, South African, scores a few, fairly quick, never done much at a decent club level but good international record.

Agree he hasn't set the world alight and you wouldn't think even at 29 he's at an age where he's going to significantly improve.
Definitely an odd one, but it might just be a case of the agent trying to drum up interest with him being out of contract.

Palace won’t do anything till they have a decision from Zaha and decided on a manager

It never stopped them with Jefferson lerma although simpler with just agreeing terms & no need for Bournemouth to be involved, to a certain degree Dougie freedman will have some sort of movement to possibly make things happen if it's beneficial in doing so.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 11:42 amEvery player he links us to he seems to link Bournemouth and palace too.

Let’s hope Nixon was as correct about Brighton winning the Verbruggen race as he was about our interest in Kent.Flying Without Ings wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 12:23 pmPreviously linked, Ryan Kent, confirmed at Fenerbache.

I never understand these type of comments, so because Kent has signed for Fenerbahce, Burnley were never interested so Nixon was wrong?
I thought Nixon always said there was interest from Burnley and Fenerbahce, for whatever reason he hasn’t signed here, maybe we pulled out last minute.

Whoever has linked Che Adam’s with us must still think Dyche is our manager
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Wierd one is Adams. Only ever really had one good scoring season and that was in the Champ about 4 years ago. That being said he's only 26 and his PL stats are actually about 1 in 4 which isn't as bad as I thought.

Can't see it happening but Vigouroux is a very good goalkeeper and certainly doesn't lack confidence. Wouldn't dream of telling VK his job but there's another lad at Southampton who is a bit good and can play up front.

I would rather have Ashley Vanessa than Che Adams. Much better touch and player.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
On a good day decent. Hard working but rather sloppy. Not really fast. Can score a goal but not really a good shot. Not good enough of a dribbler. More like Bastien up front.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Compared to the level Burnley is striving for I'd say disappointing. At best a useful squad member. Experienced professional guy for warming the bench.
