Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Going back to the Iheanacho link, he has 42 goals and 28 assists in 7,820 minutes in the Premier League, that isn’t far off being a goal or an assist every 90 minutes, impressive stuff, especially considering he has played better when getting a rare run of starts.
Isn’t at his theoretical peak yet either. Whether he suits our style is another matter but I do suspect we need a goalscorer in that role.

‘Wolfsburg have received an initial bid of €12m plus add-ons from Burnley for their Belgian midfielder Aster Vranckx‘ - l’equipe journo.

If we sign half the players we have been linked with we will have about 8 squads

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Never heard of him - but 20 years old, full Belgian international, played in Bundesliga and Serie A and Kompany will have presumably seen him up close when he played for Mechelen. Seems he was on loan last season at AC Milan who had an option to buy and have not taken it up. Six foot tall so perhaps adds a bit of height into the middle. Very exciting profile.

I'm seeing Roma are also linked.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 9:29 amSee a few Leicester fans seem to think Iheanacho could be coming to us.
Would be an interesting signing
He's only got a year left on his contract I think, so wouldn't be silly money to sign, but wages would be an issue, believed to be £90k a week.
As you say, would be an interesting signing.

Never heard of the guy but impressive resume having played for top teams in the Bundesliga and Serie A and representing Belgium through all the age groups up to senior level. Definitely a position where we need someone capable of slotting straight into the side in Cork’s role, presume he fits this profile?

The customary YouTube investigation gives off very good impressions of the type of player he is. Looks excellent on the ball and very good at getting out of tight spaces. You could definitely imagine him next to Cullen.

Only played a bit part for Milan last year. 9 appearances overall.
However, he's just made his Belgium debut and still only 20 years old so must have some decent pedigree.
Wolfsburg owe us a good player after dumping Weghorst on us

We could always offer them a part exchange with Wout

I really like the look of this young lad. A Belgian acquaintance of mine says he really composed when under pressure and that even in a congested midfield he can find the time and space to provide telling passes which opens up the opposition’s defence.
Apparently he’s equally good at breaking up play and retains the ball well even when surrounded by several opposition players

At AC Milan who have just sold a player in the same position to Newcastle for 70mil, no wonder he didn’t get much of a look in

I was watching Belgium the other day to check out Tresor and this lad was playing in the middle and he looked a unit from what I can remember . Not watched him play other than that but at 20 years old it could be a real coup

Not dissing the lad in any way, but Belgium seem to be giving a lot of young potentials caps, probably to stop them from playing for another country, as Zaroury did.FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 3:49 pmOnly played a bit part for Milan last year. 9 appearances overall.

England have been doing the same for years where possible, which is a shame because it left some players in the wilderness when they weren't picked againColburn_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 6:04 pmNot dissing the lad in any way, but Belgium seem to be giving a lot of young potentials caps, probably to stop them from playing for another country, as Zaroury did.

Not a great Source I know but teamtalk are saying we are going to offer money plus 2 players for Gyokeres. If there’s any truth in the source you’d imagine McNally being one of the players offered but I can’t think who else we would offer them

Haha no, it’s just the only player that makes sense (plus the type of player they would want).
I also think from our view point if we sign Flemming and potentially Tresor it would dramatically reduce the amount of game time Twine could get

I think we'll keep hold of Twine. The only possible way I could see him going would be right at very end of the window *if* we've absolutely smashed the recruitment and he ends up quite far down the pecking order. Unlikely, I'd say.
I really can't see us getting Gyokeres either. Lots of reports so far suggest we've been balking at fees around the £15m mark and he'd surely be that or higher.

Perhaps that’s why the deal would involve two of ours going that way. To get the fee below that figure?ksrclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 7:14 pmI think we'll keep hold of Twine. Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Tresor looking unlikely from what I’ve been told at this point, hence the recent bids for Flemming. I’d love us to be in for Gyokeres (though not been told anything to back this up) and it would make sense as a cash plus McNally bid, especially given how well stocked we are at CB.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 7:00 pmHaha no, it’s just the only player that makes sense (plus the type of player they would want).

Sorry to come across all “football expert” but I’ve been aware of Vranckx for years.
Admittedly because he came to my attention for this greatest miss of all time contender…

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Asti Spumanti, Italian, to partner Aster Vranckx?
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Flemming and Vranckx would add some much needed physicality to the centre of the pitch for us. I hope our interest in both is serious enough to bring them in. Tresor always seemed a stretch given the 18m asking price.
