Anthonini, I'm sure you have already been asked and answered this but are you a permanent resident of Belgium and therefore have an inside view of Belgium football?

I enjoy your informative posts. 👍

Thanks mate :) glad to be here supporting Burnley.
I'm Belgian and yes resident in Belgium, always been a fan of Anderlecht and the raw talents they produce. Also Belgian national team and u21 follower so I know alot of these guys Burnley and Vinnie are looking at right now.

They mostly come from the Anderlecht youth academy. Tresor Lukebakio and Bakayoko have been formed there too. Even Benson was there for a while if I'm not mistaken.

Since Anderlecht have a new director, the goofball that fired VK and a bunch of other valued staff members, the latest one being the head of youth academy for 18 years. Also selling the brightest young talents for a dime. He even blamed the youth academy for their poor results last season. It's become harder and harder to support them. So up the clarets!

To stay on topic it looks like PSV are asking at least 30 mil for Bakayoko and Burnley only can go up to 20.

Out of all those options it seems Tresor would be the most likely then. Is Lukebakio really going to Sevilla? He would be still be in our price range too.

Lukebakio seemed to be nailed on to sign for us but even though Sevilla are in financial trouble, they are owned by the same group as Hertha and so it seems a deal behind the scenes is being sorted out. Think the group also own Standard Liege.

We always have multiple targets so I'm sure we are already on with the next on the list.

Foster made 11 appearances (7 as sub) and score one. As much as he has some qualities, goal scoring is not one of them from what we have seen so far. He didn't look likely to score in The Championship so it seems to me wishful, thinking to expect lots of goals in The Premier League.

That may be the case with Tella too of course.
To be fair, Tella has 1 goal and 2 assists in 33 Premier League appearances, so it may be wishful thinking to expect lots of goals from Tella in the Premier League.

To make it clear I am not having a go at you or Tella, just that everything is up for debate at the moment, but in VK we trust.

Do we know if Burnley picked up his entire wages last season or just a proportion

Will have been his entire wage I’d have thought. ‘Only’ about 600k a year apparently so well in our range with the parachute payments.

We've done exceptionally well this window, but it feels like these final deals are all slipping away from us. Hopefully we are strong enough to pick up the points until Jan. I wonder if the defeat to City has put some off?

Think you can be 100% certain that losing to Man City hasn’t made someone not sign for us.

It becomes a very small field in football across Europe for any player if that is the criteria nevermind the players we are looking at

I think from the outside it looks like we’re being frustrated in our pursuit of further signings but I think they’ll be a lot of other targets being worked on behind the scenes that we’re keeping a real tight lid on and then they’ll just suddenly appear like Amdouni did.

Fully expect that alongside Ramsey (which must be close to being announced! Ha) we’ll fetch another 3/4 in.

Two Premier League/domestic loans still to activate and I think a lot of that will be determined around which positions we have to buy and which we can loan.

Some deals just take a lot longer due to clubs not allowing them to leave until they have finalised their squads , and players looking to impress , which they have every right to( Maatsen).

Also worth noting that if these final deals are indeed “big money” moves for Burnley then you can understand why they’d take a little longer . Number one gets etc etc

Seems like Liverpool is moving in on Bakayoko. That's going to become nearly impossible to get him. Lukebakio looking at Sevilla we better be careful with Tresor if he's still on the list. He really wants to move out and already openly expressed his interest in signing for Burnley. Hopefully we can sign at least one of these gifted wingers to start for us.

In fairness to Ramsey and his agent they are still on line one of the convoluted contract drawn up by both clubs.

It does seem that we like to operate in the shadows. Whilst it seems to have gone quiet, i'm pretty confident we are still very active. Would love to listen to the conversations with Dodi's representatives.

We are doing some serious work on our existing assets
Benny, Annas and now Josh Cullen all extending contracts
Previously we had a rather disjointed approach to our squad allowing contracts to run down and selling our stars cheaply
There seems to be a more organised and planned framework and this includes incoming too.I can see THB and Ian Maatsen coming back as our Premier league loans. I think Nathan Tella has slipped through the net.But we will get others in.

Out of the 3 young Belgian guys I'd say he's the best striker of the ball, he's also a tad slower and less of a one on one guy than Lukebakio and Bakayoko. But he's the guy that can provide our attacking players. Feed em good balls in. He's more like Benson in that sense.

Bakayoko obviously the youngest, combining speed vision and technique. Very productive for his age. Probably will make the biggest career out of the lot. Probably the reason why Liverpool and Napoli are interested.

Lukebakio more the pacey dribbler that takes guys on who can get you a goal. Less in passing and striking of the ball.

If you see what Burnley needs most I'd say creativity. Be that on the midfield or anywhere else on the pitch. We have good fast players upfront already, but someone to give that decisive through ball or perfect cross in is something we still lack in my opinion. Berge and Ramsay can hopefully already bring some more of that.

Watched Tella play for Saints and he plays a totally different role there than he did for us. That might explain the huge difference in his scoring record at Saints and Burnley under VK. He was bubbly and bright with us and looks thoroughly miserable at Saints ! He must feel cheated of his season in the Prem

Keep seeing THB mentioned, can’t see that one at all, we’ve enough at CB and he’d probably be 3rd/4th choice

I don't know if we need THB specifically but I suspect we do need additional central defenders as we seem to be playing three each game. Only Ekdal and maybe Taylor and Cork are cover - McNally recall too perhaps.

Plus it's difficult to see THB making a breakthrough at City this season even if he is good enough.

Chelsea are trying to get £35 million for Lewis hall from Newcastle, he can play left back or left wing
18yrs old and only 8 senior appearances for Chelsea….

That’s bonkers money, but he is contracted until 2030

For the way we play I think Maatsen is perfect for us. Under Kompany his defensive game will only get better. I’d like to see him back, but id prefer a permanent to a loan however either would be nice.

I still think we will see you surprise signing before we are finished .

Given that Twine was our first signing under Kompany in the last close season I don’t think he was brought in with any visions of being in the PL this time round.

Another season in the Championship should do him the world of good.

A Hull supporting colleague seems to think it's a loan with an option to buy. Personally, I think that might just be wishful thinking on his part.

He also says they are in for Andros Townsend.

Spot on. His best goals for us were late runs down the middle after our striker had dragged the CB out of position. With his pace it left an easy run in on goal. Playing more as an orthodox winger for Saints even if he did cut inside a la Benson for his deflected strike at Wednesday.

Certainly not ITK, but could well be a simialr situation with us signing Beyer in that they pay a certain price if they are promoted. Otherwise, I don't think they'd be able to afford him. We paid £4m ish, on the back of a good season playing week in week out in the Championship, if he performs how he could do, you'd expect us to be looking at a minimum of £8m-10m in these days of crazy prices for a young British, attacking player. I'm not sure Hull have that money without promotion.

It was on the back of a good season playing in league one not the championship.
It’s fair to say he is still unproven in the championship and guess VK is keen for him to spend a year there where he has had a decent pre season and hopefully injury free.
I think from what I have seen and also how brilliant he was for MK Dons that he’ll have a good season at Hull.

It was on the back of a good season playing in league one not the championship.
It’s fair to say he is still unproven in the championship and guess VK is keen for him to spend a year there where he has had a decent pre season and hopefully injury free.

Sorry, bad grammar from me there. It should have been "We paid £4m ish. On the back of a good season playing week in week out in the Championship....."

But yes, fingers crossed for an injury free season. I'd back him to get 15 goals in an attacking side with regular minutes.

Personally don’t see twine coming back, if he has a good season playing well week in week out can see a perm move in the summer

A Hull supporting colleague seems to think it's a loan with an option to buy. Personally, I think that might just be wishful thinking on his part.

He also says they are in for Andros Townsend.
This is in local Hull paper
The Tigers will pay Burnley a loan fee and contribute towards Twine's wages, though there is not an option-to-buy clause inserted into the deal. Twine's arrival is viewed as a real coup for City, and a reward for their persistence, and belief, in a player they believe has the ability to help the Tigers challenge for a place in the top six over the next nine months.

Chelsea are trying to get £35 million for Lewis hall from Newcastle, he can play left back or left wing
18yrs old and only 8 senior appearances for Chelsea….
That’s bonkers money, but he is contracted until 2030
If this happens and we are still short of a LB, Matt Targett could be available from Newcastle as a short term loan

Been suggested that Chelsea are interested in Brennan Johnson at Forest. Maatsen being mooted as being used in part exchange as Forest are interested in him as well as West Ham.

Waiting to sign Zaniolo on loan before they let him out following Buendia’s injury?

I think very possible looking for a replacement for Buendia may be a reason for the delay

Not sure. Don’t think full extent of the Buendia injury was in public domain until late last week.

Alot of Hull fans on twitter are comparing Twine with Billy Whitehurst, very similar.
