Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I think we can write bakayoko off if we are signing tresor and origi
If we sign a left back and maybe another right back only then would Taylor be allowed to leave.
Bastien out on loan
Churlinov and obafemi not registered in the squad due to injuries and will probs then be loaned out in Jan for game time

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
That rumour of the CEO speaking openly about transfers and Beyer in the longside lounge was on twitter over the weekend, seems a strange thing to make up but also seems strange for the CEO to be speaking about transfersArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 10:38 amFrom The Bee Hole End pod this morning reporting Matt Williams (transfers guy at the club) stated we are hopeful of 3-4 players incoming this week. Looking like Tresor will be one. They also indicated Maatsen may sign a long-term deal with Chelsea before being loaned out.
With Tresor and a LB (maybe Maatsen) presumably taking 2 of those 3-4 incoming slots, that leaves 1 or 2 others potentially incoming. I've lost track of who we've been linked with this summer. Who else do we see coming in?

I'd hope that VK is putting a squad together for better reasons than profit off the field.
As he said in the documentary there are two sources of income. Gate receipts and player sales. We never have nor ever will survive on gate receipts

1. We wanted Tella but not at that price.
2. Beyer was out for 6-8 weeks but hadn't done his ACL.
3. We haven't bid £20m for Bakayoko.
4. Chelsea won't let Maatsen leave on loan unless he first signs a new 6 year contract, and Maatsen doesn't want to do that at present.

Specifically, he said we certainly hadn't bid twenty million for him. Which isn't quite the same thing. It could be (but probably isn't) deliberately misleading. (eg. we have bid 19 million? )123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 11:04 amYeah multiple people have said it now just find it strange, and he’s saying there’s nothing in bakayoko

Where are we at with Tresor currently then? Reputable sources reporting a fee is agreed? Working on personal terms?
This feels like it could be a massive signing if it comes off.

Got to be honest, Tresor was the player I wanted at the start of this window. But right now LB and another CM has got to be the priority.

Tresor
Lokonga
Maatsen
Origi
Imagine our season!! What a squad we would have, (it's pretty impressive already)

Matt Williams is heavily involved with transfers - deals with agents etc. as can be seen in the documentary. Nice guy in my experience. It does seem strange that he was openly discussing our business at a game before the window is over though, but maybe he's been given the go ahead to be more open than the club have been previously.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I'm by no means in the know with it, but I think it was reported yesterday that a fee has been agreed and various reporters have indicated Tresor has been keen on signing for us this summer as he wants to play under Kompany. I'm fairly sure it was reported earlier this summer that he rejected Crystal Palace's approach as he preferred another move (assuming to us?). A great sign if so that players are preferring us to other PL clubs - not something we're used to!PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 11:15 amWhere are we at with Tresor currently then? Can anyone post Nixon’s article on Maatsen?
You would hope it’s a ‘proper’ bid that has a good chance. And also if it’s rejected we move (very) swiftly onto another target we know we can get.

Did he quote ‘wouldn’t say optimistic’ in his article, on twitter he’s just saying it depends if Chelsea need him.
With chilwell’s injury record couldn’t imagine Chelsea being ok with just chilwell and cucurella

Not a Burnley rumour but Fulham are in talks to sign Iwobi. A very important player for Everton.

I’ve always felt we had been holding out for Maatsen all summer. If it doesn’t work out, I just hope there’s enough time to get someone else in because we simply have to sign a left back.
As to who that player might be, Cody Drameh most likely?

Taylor might not be able to play the inverted role but he can certainly get up and down the left hand side easily, he’s done it for years

Genk is a training team. Great what they do, but unfortunately they can never expand or strengthen the core. You also have to dare to invest in top players.
If genk no add. reinforcements, it is out in Europe, and it goes to po2. See what Onuachu's transfer brought in and what it will cost Genk now. The group of players is worth less, and has to invest 15 mj hoping to find a scoring player. Bas Dost for short-term goals was free, but they allowed them to sleep. Then you also have to fire Vrancken, and let that be the perfect coach for Genk for 2-3 years. Burnley will not stay in the PL. What is Tresor going to mess about against relegation?
Hopefully Mike stays with Genk. For the money the bear dances, as with long Paul and then degrade. I fear for Mike that he will have to play against relegation all season at Burnley and will end up in the second division in England. Genk sticks to its VZW status and can therefore not rely on lenders such as Coucke or Gheysen. As supporters we have to learn to live with that fact or support Anderlecht at Antwerp. What do we want!?
It will be total ruin if you get rid of these players
What a blunder from RC.Genk if they allow this......!
Apparently nothing learned from their mistakes of last year...
Other and better let go
I would anyway. Judging by his reaction on the field, let the whole team down
That would be the final death knell for RC Genk, then there would be nothing left.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Origi? Not for me.
Maatsen in the prem? Not for me.
Too many new players and straight in, not working their way in to the set structure of play - known by the original squad, is a recipe for disaster in the Prem. Takes several weeks and then the season is gone. Ask Fulham.

More importantly, did Charlie Taylor have the foresight in 2018 to know what transfers we’d make in 2023…? If not… then why is it a discussion in this thread!
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I really don’t want Maatsen, great going forward suspect defending and will be targeted by every opponent IMO, however I do think LB is the most crucial position to fill and clearly CT is not the choice, alternatives seem very scarce but watching this space closely. Mike T has been the one I thought most likely to join and really hoping this comes off, seems close now, he has a slight injury and could be doing a medical and agreeing terms/signing next couple of days.
Origi was a free for them so I’m sure price is not an issue but the same I’m sure wages are and they want him off the books apparently, I’d like to see him but I don’t thin we will due to wages and others wanting him.
If we get just MT and a LB I think it would be a sensational window, any others will just be the cherry on top.
