Don’t wish to stick a pin in your orgasmic bubble, Spiral, but Christine identifies as he.
Just caught one of his numbers on catch up and very good he was.

Anything to mask over the incredible dullness of her music, I suppose.
To each their own, but even trying to put myself in the shoes of someone who isn't into it, I don't know how 'dull' can be used to describe her music. It's downtempo and brooding at times, but that is not the same as being dull. Track 10 (that's the name of a tune, I don't mean to say the tenth track she played — about 22mins in on her set on iplayer catch up if anyone is interested) was probably the best 10 minutes of Glastonbury I've ever watched. She has been the act of the weekend for me. Fever Ray were also really good, and The Comet Is Coming were amazing as always.

Looking forward to Thundercat (immense jazz bassist from Flying Lotus) on the Park stage at 7.45. There's a group called The Hu coming on at 5pm on the West Holts, never hear of them before but they are described as Mongolian folk metal throat singing, and honestly that sounds...interesting to say the least. I can't even hear that in my head. For me personally this is the kind of cool $hit that Glastonbury is about. I'm never in a million years coming across Mongolian throat singing folk metal outside of this festival

Not calling anyone in particular a muppet, just a turn of phrase. Stop being so overly sensitive.

You're being weird conjuring that image in your head and it says more about you than me. I said even last night to yTib that I don't see lewdness, I just think it's really cool transgressive performance art. (Is it still even lewd if he identifies as a man? I didn't know that at the time of posting. This opens up a whole conversation about the double standard I alluded to earlier, and this is what transgressive art does, it makes you ask questions you might never have asked). I made a joke about boobs being better than some washed up old band from the 80's (I was dunking on GnR and while praising C&tQ), and there's been a bit of an overreaction to that, I think. I reckon a lot of you are projecting your own prurience onto me

Maybe they need to change their name to Christine (He/Him) and the Queen's to avoid further confusion.

The argument above about AR & AT is pointless as they are two different genres. AR is a rock singer with a big rock voice that is past it’s best but he still put on a good show considering the mix was against him. AT is an interpreter of his own lyrics and does a very good job of it but hasn’t got a rock voice at all.
IMO they put on a very good show and Slash was sensational, MOTM.
it was a conversation based on technicality which is an easy thing to measure, you either sing in key or don't as an example. Genre has nothing to do with it

Maybe they need to change their name to Christine (He/Him) and the Queen's to avoid further confusion.
If a man takes up the more conventionally feminine-spelling of name which is homophonic to both gender and uses it as a man, then the spelling takes on a level of masculine function by its use by a man. Say a bloke calls himself Penelope. By him using it, 'Penelope' can no longer truly be thought as a 'woman's' name any more, and instead a more accurate sentence would be that 'Penelope' is a name used typically by women and also in some cases men (or a man). By this logic, Christine and the Queens need not feel obliged to change the spelling of his stage name, he needs only use the spelling 'Christine' and thus it becomes a name (a stage name at that) used by men. To some people who like more order to things this feels destabilising and transgressive, and some people react badly to this.

Tbh, I'd never heard of them before, which is the beauty of Glastonbury. But, by gum, they got the audience fired up and I love seeing people enjoying themselves. That lead singer is a star!!

The most bizzare thing was people complaining about Axl Rose’s voice ffs! his “ prime vocal “ went 25+ yrs ago , yet comments like “ his voice has gone “ he’s past his best “ etc Jesus wept !
I would add it wasn’t a great vocal and he’s usually better .
As for Rick Astley doing Smith’s covers and Cat Stevens murdering George Harrison and as for Westlife covers .. is this the end of days ?

Never heard a Lizzo song before -

Must admit, not particularly my thing but putting on a brilliant show - phenomenal musicians in her band and she’s a pretty good front(wo)man and a very powerful singer

All about opinions of course but.... I love Slave Ambient and some of Lost in a Dream (Red Eyes is probably their high watermark) but since then they've become incredibly bland to me. Not necessarily the song writing but the production of the albums. They just lacked any sort of "oomph". In my opinion, obviously.

Seems Thundercat isn't being shown on TV. Big gap on the BBC's coverage of the Park stage where he's playing, not listed by BBC. Goes straight from Alison Goldfrapp to the headliner Alt-J. It's a shame when artists don't grant permission for TV broadcast. A pyramid stage headliner did that a few years ago, didn't they? U2 or something?

The continuing hyperbole for every act is tiresome. Isn’t there one act that hasn’t been so fantastically out of this world?
It's not one person hyping every act, it's numerous people hyping the one or two acts they really like.

Rick Astley doing Smiths covers, now Cat Stevens doing Westlife. What has Glasto become?
I haven't seen the Cat Stevens gig yet, which Westlife song did he cover?

Glastonbury is just a third rate version of the Eurovision song contest 😁😁

I'm sure Oasis blocked some coverage, maybe when they were playing some as-yet unreleased stuff. Probably didn't want people to know how shite their next album was going to be in advance.
