Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley calls time on playing career
We can only wish Phil Bardsley a very successful future, in whatever he tackles.
A classy, proper defender, who put everything into his every move. Loved to watch him sort attackers out.
Thanks for being a Claret and best wishes.

That Philipe Anderson who was the next big thing for West Ham will be pleased, Bardsley marked him out the game to such an extent a few years ago I've never heard of him since.

Proved to be a really good signing for relative pennies, when I think most of us thought "Hmmm" at the time we heard we were getting him. Never let us down and had a lot more quality than I expected. Good luck to him - seems the type who will likely stay in football.

Bardsley wiped Anderson out with a strong but fair tackle, and West Ham played the rest of the game with 10 men.NottsClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 9:49 amThat Philipe Anderson who was the next big thing for West Ham will be pleased, Bardsley marked him out the game to such an extent a few years ago I've never heard of him since.
And like you say, I don't think I've heard of Anderson since.

100 per cent-er. Hard as nails in the tackle and a good and cheap signing as said above.
Thanks for the service Phil.

I always thought he was a player I wouldn’t want to have come up against.

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley calls time on playing career
For me I felt Bardsley was pretty well finished as a PL player in 2016 when we signed him, but Dyche managed to get another 5-6 seasons out of him. He never let us down, and at times he was inspirational to our team with his passion, challenges and tackles. Like Stephen Ward, Eric Pieters wish we had got them earlier-they were very good team players, and brilliant at their peakClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 11:22 amI always thought he was a player I wouldn’t want to have come up against.

Loved watching him play. Probably the hardest player we’ve had in a good number of years too.
Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley calls time on playing career
Best wishes to him.

Excellent 'dyche' signing for us. Hard as nails and a solid defender. Always remember him letting the west ham player Anderson know who was in charge at the turf

Bournemouth away, midweek game the season we finished 7th.
His white kit wasn't very clean, because he'd been putting tackles in all night on the right side
Loved his drive and determination

A more than decent full back who made his 'mark' on opposing attackers. Always remember how he unsettled Marcus Rashford so much that Rushford was eventually sent off, Mourinho said something along the lines of 'it was a man against a boy'. The sort of defender we could use again for the coming season.
