ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
Is there any suggestion from those in the know that the game in Portugal will be open to fans, and any idea what area it will be??

Re: Genk Freindly
Anyone who is going know how they’re planning to get to the ground yet?
Would like to go but assume I’ll have to hire a car to get to Genk. Wish the club would help out with things like this - a coach or whatever.
Although I’d also like to know the Portugal plans before committing.

Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
Train from Brussels to Genk and then a taxi/Uber to the stadium.
Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
Does anyone have any recommendations for getting from charleroi to Brussels?
I caught the bus in 2013 but it was a pain. Spent the journey there with an Italian man practically sitting on me and on the way back it was that busy we ended up sharing a taxi with a group.
Is the train easier or has the bus service become better organised?

There seems to be a shuttle bus running from the airport every 20/30 mins from what I’ve seen, roughly €17 a journeyClaret86 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 4:21 pmDoes anyone have any recommendations for getting from charleroi to Brussels?

Yeah the Flibco bus is decent these days. Used it several times and it’s a decent service.
Just sent this to a mate on Twitter but a few bar recommendations for Brussels
La Morte Subite - https://alamortsubite.com/en
One of my favourites just round the corner from the Grand Place and Brussels Central. Proper old school but a great atmosphere.
Delirium Cafe https://www.deliriumvillage.com/bar/delirium-cafe/
This is like a little alleyway with a few different bars - the downstairs one is mental on a Saturday night - packed, great atmosphere, loads of beers on tap etc
Le Cercueil
https://m.facebook.com/barlecercueil
A brilliant rock bar just off Grand Place - rock music, cocktails and great beers - best beer in here is La Guillotine (8.5% blond)
Au Brasseur - just off Grand Place again (on the corner of a street that has some good takeaways - Hellas the kebab shop is great for a 1am pit stop!). Great to sit outside and usually a good atmosphere inside as well. Not the biggest gaff but they do these beer tasting boards for three, five and 8 beers I think).

Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
Looked at the ferry option and the Dover- Dunkirk route was the cheapest for my VW T6 LWB camper about £240 return. Sail out Friday and return Sunday, its 1050 miles return. Fuel cost will be about £200 plus any tolls it's looking about £500 for the travel alone. I could camp in the van and save on 2 nights accommodation if I was just travelling with my lad. or I could take 5 people and either stay in accommodation or find a campsite nearby and take the awning.
I go away on holiday the week after so still undecided. With food, booze , European breakdown cover and insurance on the van it all adds up could see it costing £800 or £400 each for the 2 of us obviously cheaper with 4 or 5 people . Then two days driving 9-10 hours a day

Accy Clarets are still looking into the possibility of putting a coach on and hopefully we'll know one way or the other by early next week. It would help if anyone who would be interested.could register their interest to give us an idea of likely demand.

Be great if we can all meet up on the Friday evening in the same bar(s) and then drink in the same place in Genk on the Saturday. Those nights and days in Istanbul and Athens are memories I’ll cherish forever.Ightenhill_Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 6:36 pmYeah the Flibco bus is decent these days. Staying in Brussels. Will get the train to and from Genk on the Saturday. My mate worked as a groundsman for Leuven and said there is nothing to do in Genk. He said stay in Brussels, Leuven or Hasselt. We have chosen Brussels as it is easier on Sunday for our flight home.

Ah thanks, there does seem to be a direct train actually. For some reason when I first looked I thought it was 2 changes and several hours.
Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
Reading up on the area the StadeCafe seems to be a popular bar for fans when visiting Genk. Train only looks to take an hour 20 or so from Brussels to Genk
