Where are folk staying for Genk?
Where are folk staying for Genk?
Just curious as to where the majority of folk who are making the trip are planning to stop for the weekend? Heard some are in Brussels but a few are going Hasselt and getting the train into Genk Saturday I imagine?
Got a hotel booked in Bokrijk but if there’s gonna be a lot of Clarets in Hasselt then I may have to change

Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
Staying with a work colleague in Maastricht taking her daughters to the match think we have tickets for the south side of the stadium, she is being cagey about where the seats are.
Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
Anyone in or around Hasselt or thinking about venturing too on the Friday?

Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
I am staying just outside of Brussels (20 minute Metro from the station). How do people who are staying in Brussels plan on getting back there? Noticed the station is quite a trek from the ground and trains are quite infrequent at that time of night

We have booked a hotel in Genk for the night after the match. Then getting train back to Brussels the Sunday to catch the flight home.
Hopefully a few other clarets be in Genk after the game for a drink.

Staying in Hasselt Saturday, plan is to get the 22:07 train from Genk to Hasselt.

How are people getting to and from the stadium once in Genk as it's around 4 miles from the city centre.

Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
Had a quick look today and the only real options are a taxi or there is a bus the calls near the stadium. We will most likely get a taxi

Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
I read that the bus is 31 minute walk from the ground on the way back but 5 mins away on the way in. taxi seems most logical. Uber works there so it might be worth splitting a few fares between fans to get a larger one back to the centre
Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
We are staying at the hotel aqua, about 20 minutes walk from the grand place. The trains coming to and from genk are every hour, last one is about 9pm. Having been to Belgium twice in the past year, I've found the trains to be punctual and decent.ClaretAdam1994 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 12:24 pmI am staying just outside of Brussels (20 minute Metro from the station). The area in genk to eat and drink looks next to the trainstation. There are buses that run near to the ground or could always grab a taxi

Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
I've seen the last train based on trainline/google searches is 22:07 from Genk to Brussels, one before that is 21:07. Those two being the only options post full time. Might try make the first one and if not, stop for a drink or two before the last one back!Claret86 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 3:58 pmWe are staying at the hotel aqua, about 20 minutes walk from the grand place. We plan on getting to Genk from Brussels around midday and then train back after the match.
Meeting point of Stadscafe which has been suggested on the other thread so we can all try be together and enjoy a few beers in the afternoon.

Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
Why don't one of you organise a coach from stadcafe?
Either through the club, book it up yourselves or ask the bar to run one.

Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
Good idea, I’ve asked I’m the question, hopefully we get a response. Be good if they did something similar to what Preston did for their fans in Benidorm.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2023 9:29 amWhy don't one of you organise a coach from stadcafe?

Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
As I’ve had to explain to a guy on Twitter, no one is saying the club should do it. The question has simply been asked. The likelihood is the answer is no, and everyone is fine with that. But it doesn’t hurt anyone by asking a question.

Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
The club would be in the best position to reach out to the people going.
They did a brilliant job of it in Athens.
As sure most bars would jump at the chance if it meant more customers. So either way is good.
I'm not going by the way so I'm not wanting any benefits for myself. It's just about trying to help others out Nori

Have you found Nori on twitter?
Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
That was my initial thought surely can’t have two people complaining about a question being asked in the space of 15mins
Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
Same here.
Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
Asked on Twitter & I’ve also emailed the supporter liaison officer. I’ll post the response if/once I receive it

Still no reply from the SLO, whether anyone else has any forms of contact on the matter?

Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
Had an email back that the club won't be sorting any transport back. Would be up yo ourselves to organise, could see if Stadcafe can order us some minibuses on the day and arrange to be picked up after the game by the same ones.
Re: Where are folk staying for Genk?
As JJ mentioned above, finally had a response from the club. They’re due to release details for travelling fans in due course
