I think people dislike him because he's a symbol for the dumbing down of football coverage. We're living in a time where football is consumed and discussed differently, in short bursts on Instagram Reels and where FIFA rankings are the holy grail of analysis. If it isn't former players preferring to lean on hackneyed opinions, it's people like Thogden screaming down a camera declaring everything as iconic.

Not saying he isn't good at what he does. And that style has obviously spawned a generation of copycats hoping they too can get on Sky of a Saturday morning to try and string two sentences together.

He’s a product of that strange phenomenon where people seem to enjoy other people watching and reacting to something than watching the actual thing, the more over the top the better. Not something I’m into but I don’t begrudge him his YouTube fame.

A lot of the hatred from football fans come from his free tickets he receives and boasts about it. Him and his Dad (an opinionated Bolton Tory) got several free tickets for matches in the top flight and for England internationals whilst other fans who wanted to pay were unable to get tickets. Instead of being diplomatic he was very nonchalant and kind of I am famous so I deserve them, why should I pay

Also amongst the free tickets was some kind of challenge to go to every game in Qatar, meaning her would go to one match for just 5 or 10 mins and then go to the next one, which seemed a waste and not actually taking in the games
