Luton away

Post by claretwardy88 » Mon Jul 10, 2023 8:22 am

Morning all. Would anyone in the know, or have an educated guess as to when Luton away tickets will be available? Want to try at getting a foundation ticket but there obviously going to sell quickly! Thanks in advance

Is this game definitely going ahead ? Last I heard their ground won't be ready for that date

This game hasn't as yet been confirmed. Obviously tickets are not on sale yet but I would hold on booking any travel until there is any further news. I believe that the game will not be switched to the Turf should Kenilworth Road be unable to host it and that would leave us looking at a new date for the game.

Thanks, I did ask my Luton "in the know" friend and he said the ground will be ready but obviously can't confirm that! If it was to go ahead would we be thinking next week for tickets?

I'd expect next week on tickets given they said five weeks notice - we should know more this week but it is clearly a rush against time to get the ground finished but, as I posted further up the thread, don't expect the game to be switched, if the ground isn't ready then it will be postponed with a new date to be found.

To be honest I don't fancy my chances of a ticket via foundation anyway as there obviously going to be in small number and high demand but here's hoping!!

Has there been a reason given as to why the fixture can't he reversed CT? ( not disputing what your saying is correct, just curious)

I suspect both clubs would have to agree to the switch and if that’s the case I’d hope we’d say no. We don’t really want to start the season with four home games in a row.

There has been Chinese whispers down here that if the stadium isn't ready there's an option of playing it at the MK Dons stadium .............great for me as it's 10 minutes away 😁.

But don't shoot the messenger if this is bollards!

That would seem sensible, reluctant as i am to encourage giving that lot any cash. Maybe they could play at the new Plough Lane instead as a sort of raised middle finger?

I have a hospitality season ticket and have been sent a list of when away tickets will go on sale - subject to fixture changes of course. Luton is down as going on sale on July 24th.

I don't think this being postponed is a bad thing. Luton's first home game after 30 odd years out of the top flight will be tough for any opposition.... something about it seems vaguely familiar.

I'm sure we have our reasons but it does seem to me that starting with a run of home games would be an advantage with little to no downside. Get some points on the board.

Someone mentioned on here, Vinny wants to play them at the beginning of the season, while their pitch is still in good condition.

But if it gets postponed to later in the season (rather than switched) it still won't be the beginning of the season.

In terms of a run of 4 away games, if it was switched it would only be 3 games (although there's the FA cup weekend so we may have a home or away match in the middle).

If the delay is due to the uncertainty as to whether or not the required media/TV facilities would be completed in time, guess it wouldn't make any difference to that if it's played with or without spectators.

At the end of the season when they won the play off, a Luton director was on Talk Sport and said, no way would they play any “ home” games at Stadium MK. I think there’s been a fall out and bad blood between the clubs previously

Luton have reported that the Premier League have given them permission to re-arrange the game if required although they remain confident of being ready for our game there.

That would mean a midweek trip to Kenilworth Road should it not be ready for 19th August.

On the plus side for me, that increases my chance of getting a ticket to my nearest away ground :)

You would imagine a large number of fans are now all at a similar level of points, if this remains a Saturday and someone misses out we should look to change the points system to make it fairer.

The club can’t say anymore than is being reported across the media.
I’d be amazed that if anyone who had booked travel or hotels was not already aware the fixture might not go ahead

Think it's pretty common knowledge that they would struggle to complete the PL required ground improvements and until the PL determine if the game will go ahead or not, there's not much to say. Luton haven't even said anything or even put home tickets on sale yet.
