Trying to find an old mate Johnny Harvey
Trying to find an old mate Johnny Harvey
Hope someone on here can help possibly. Im trying to find the lad that inspired my love of Burnley FC way back in the late 80's. We used to be in the Artillery together and got into all sorts of daft bits of bother over the years. When I left, lost touch but his love of Burnley has ultimately led me to getting a Season Ticket. I know he went through it a wee bit after he left the army, but if anyone knows him, or knows of him, be nice to get some info. Thanks UTC

I knew Johnny back in the 90s, he lived on Nairne St if I recall. Sound lad and an absolute storytelling master. Had his issues as you say but a top bloke
Haven't seen him in years unfortunately though

I know a couple of lads ex 2 Fd Regt used to be regulars in the Swan Inn. One worked behind the bar.

Wonder if either of those know him. Thank you.

We knew him as Frik - loved a frikadelle off of the food truck that came onto camp. Top lad indeed!

I was in Lippstadt in the late 90’s, other side of Churchill at 22 Sigs. Went back a few years ago, town is a shadow of it’s former self. Very sad to see.

Have a look at JHQ, Rheindahlen on google maps. When the Germans got rid of BAOR they erased them.claret wizard wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 7:42 pmWent back a few years ago, town is a shadow of it’s former self. Very sad to see.

Had some good mates in 22 when we were there (mid-80s) used to spend some very long nights in the squadron bars…claret wizard wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 7:42 pmI was in Lippstadt in the late 90’s, other side of Churchill at 22 Sigs. Re: Trying to find an old mate Johnny Harvey
I thought it was our governments along with Cameron's disastrous defence review that erased our permanent presence re the BFG? I'm fine to be corrected. I know he took an axe to our navy, a subject very close to my heart, and tried to cover up the damage and massive shortfalls with 'his' two aircraft carriers. Unforgivable IMO.
TMI1882, hope you find your pal or at least some info.

Apologies. I was talking landscape not politics. There is not a trace of a former monstrous military base, with UK, USA, French, Dutch, Belgian forces all based there.Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Sat Jul 15, 2023 8:11 amI thought it was our governments along with Cameron's disastrous defence review that erased our permanent presence re the BFG? I was at RAF Bruggen. Brilliant 3 years. I’d happily live in Germany.
