Re: Free Nathan Tella!
Thought I’d put my 10 pence in to this conversation but I’ll keep it short
It’s unprofessional, cringeworthy, embarrassing and disrespectful. No good can come from this video. People will say it’s an overreaction and jumping on the board’s back at any given opportunity, but if I think they’ve made a huge misjudgment, I’ll voice my opinion and not just happy clap along with it.
If another club did this to us, we’d be fuming.

Misjudged but that’s about it for me. It doesn’t appear to have gained much traction outside of our respective fanbases. If it stymies the deal, that’s on Pace, but we shall see.
The patronising ‘daddy’ stuff from long term Pace critics isn’t helpful.

I'd 100% read a book that is a deconstructionist exploration of football. Microdose some acid while reading it, you'd end up looking at positions on the field as less a role in the 'real' and conventional sense of the word, more a categorical construct, because you've shattered the idealism upon which tactics are based, and your mind is blown when it dawns on you that the 'game' is not even happening on a field, it's only happening in your mind (action is happening on the field, but the 'game' only exists in the mind), then before you know it you're doing a deep dive on functional linguistics and the stability of everything is brought into question, and you've forgot what a midfielder even is.

I didn't read that one.Spiral wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 10:29 pmFor all the $hit I often get on here (and as amusing as it is to read other people's indignant screeching backlashes), I at least usually try to make points about the thread topic, certainly originally, before some inarticulate trog's screeching brings it down a few levels and we descend to *waves hand* this farce. Why are you even here? Taking pop shots off at me because you've been triggered by something? How were you triggered. Show me on the doll where you were hurt. Done a quick 2-sec search on this thread and your only contributions to it are to have a dig at me. Fair do's, no skin off my back, everything is ultimately meaningless and I couldn't care less if I'm loathed by some rando on the internet, but I do question what you're actually using this forum for at that point. Maybe take a look at your own behaviour.

Looks like the club has managed to survive the night, guess it is only a matter of time, once twitter and talksport get their teeth into this maybe no other players will sign for us and the ones we have will want out.

Re: Free Nathan Tella!
I watched the video yesterday via Twitter, expecting it to be an unveiling video or it being followed by the press reporting he had undergone a medical. I assumed that it was a club video. Just carried on scrolling.
My opinion is that it's naivety from Alan's daughter. I probably made it for a giggle or the desperate need to create content, for content's sake.
If Alan Pace retweeted it, it's probably because she also manages his account. I don't know. I've not followed it that closely, but because of her ‘profile’, she needs to take care on social media it could lead to negative consequences… not that I think it will. It's just a stupid video

He always had a soft spot for Burnley. Working-class town with a massive and unflinching passion for its club. If he was still around and read this thread, he'd wonder what had become of us. I was fine with it because I assumed that it meant Tella was about to be announced. It appears nothing is imminent so it's a bit misguided and unprofessional, in my opinion. But not the end of the world either.

I wonder whether some of them 'celebrated' our return to the EPL through gritted teeth? Re: Free Nathan Tella!
I’m not particularly offended by the video like some, but I don’t think it can do us any favours in negotiation. Football is a business but it’s also run by people, and people can act against business interests when their nose gets put out of joint.
I do, however, think our sterling social media work is in danger of jumping the shark, as much as I like it so far. It’s feels a bit like we’re trying too hard

Re: Free Nathan Tella!
Were there not rumours that Pace wanted to buy Southampton before us. He was critical of their board for destroying their academy as he phrased it. Seems to me it’s a bit of beef between them both- only they know what went on. Nothing to get knickers in a twist about that’s for sure.

Re: Free Nathan Tella!
I'm on about how I'd 100% read a book that is a deconstructionist take on football, and saying what it might be like to read it and what might go through your head when reading it.
Re: Free Nathan Tella!
spt made a comment where he mentioned a deconstructionist approach to football, I elaborated on it, because that's how forums usually work. Are you actually following the thread at all?
It went like this: someone says this video is a naive thing to do, another person asks how anyone can know if a person who made it (or a person in general) is naive (a deconstructionist approach to the question would clear this up a bit), another replies that you can't know that they are a naive person, but you can observe that an action is naive, spt points out (rightly) that this deconstructionist approach could be taken to absurd levels, and I imagine for the reason being that he's posting on a football forum, mentioned that you could apply this approach to looking at things to the game of football as a whole, then I say I'd read a book that does that, and here we are.
