Re: Non league
I note that FC Isle of Man are in the NW Counties league. How does this work re travelling costs especially mid week games?

Re: Non league
If memory serves me the isle of man pay for the other teams expenses to travel.
NCWL have front loaded the season with lots of midweek leagues at the beginning of the season, Bacup might actually not need to play three games in one day this year!!!

I used to run in a Northern athletic league and the Isle of Man had a team in with us. They never had a home meeting though.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 8:36 amI note that FC Isle of Man are in the NW Counties league. How does this work re travelling costs especially mid week games?

Re: Non league
Colne v Bury next tues night, should be good money for Colne, Bury sold 4000 tickets for today's 1st home game.
Re: Non league
I’m going on Gigg Lane this afternoon with a mate who used to be a Bury season ticket holder, he’s been very much looking forward to this day.
Quite a few local teams in the same league, Padiham, Barnoldswick, Ramsbottom, Colne.

Yeah Isle of Man have to cover their opponents travel costs. Must be somebody pumping some money in there.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 8:36 amI note that FC Isle of Man are in the NW Counties league. How does this work re travelling costs especially mid week games?

I had planned to go to Gigg Lane today for Bury v Glossop NE but seems it might be close to sold out so not going to bother.

Yes that's right, Jersey do the same. They played in the league of my local non league team last season.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 11:29 amI think that happens in a similar southern league with teams from the Channel Islands

Tuesday 15th August Padiham at home to Bury, bet they will bring 1k easily.

Thanks for the reminder - I've just bought my ticket online (colnefc website). And I think I'll walk there rather than look for a space on the car park!Barlickclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 9:30 amColne v Bury next tues night, should be good money for Colne, Bury sold 4000 tickets for today's 1st home game.

Missed a good game Tony. I’m here, 5-1, 2 great goals in there, good atmosphere. 5,400 on.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 11:27 amI had planned to go to Gigg Lane today for Bury v Glossop NE but seems it might be close to sold out so not going to bother.
Re: Non league
I'm tired of the non league agenda being rammed down my throat. Burnley's U21 team could be playing with 10 men and still comfortably beat any 7th division side.

Re: Non league
I’ve not done too many non-league games in the last couple of seasons but will hopefully get more in this coming season. A good number of clubs to choose from locally to go and watch.
Only reason I didn’t go today was the concern I might not get in. Good to see so many there.

Re: Non league
Watched West Allotment Celtic vs Shildon in the Northern League today. The home team included Jack Errington former Claret youngster.
A good game of footy, interestingly the home team had two players sin binned for ten minutes each for trapping off to the ref.
Not sure if this is an experiment for transfer to the pro game if it is successful.
Anyone know more about this?

Re: Non league
Crowd of 5,451 at Gigg Lane. Kick off pushed back to 3:15. Just like the old times when Bury always kicked off at that time. Tim Gudgin would’ve said his usual “Bury v Glossop North End, Late kick off” or did he say “score not yet in”?

Re: Non league
The pitch was very flat and very green. If you want to see vegetables growing and watch football the place to go is Heaton Stannington, also in the Northern League.
There are several vegetable patches located within the perimeter of the ground accessible from the surrounding houses via a number of gates. There are also several large mature trees as well, perhaps about a dozen. It’s a most bizarre ground located in a very built up area of Newcastle.
Re: Non league
I went to Bacup ...won 2-0 ..not much in it first half ...other team had gial disallowed for offside very marginal then 1 sent off just before half time...good win with quite a few of regular team missing
Encouraged to ho again next Saturday

Good to see Jack is still playing - some years since he had to have a year out because of a heart issueClaretLoup wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 6:40 pmWatched West Allotment Celtic vs Shildon in the Northern League today. The home team included Jack Errington former Claret youngster.

No. Just came across it on fb.
Re: Non league
I went to watch Garforth Town vs Hallam. First league match of the season
Only 7 quid and they let my lad in for free.
Good kirkstall brewery behind the bar.
It will probably be my go to this season whilst I wait on the season ticket waiting list.
The standard was absolutely terrible but my lad enjoyed the match which is what matters

Re: Non league
Yes it was. I think the club tweeted yesterday morning advising fans without tickets to turn up early. I believe they were queuing from 1.30pm to get in. The BBC North West reporter, can’t remember his name, was there and there will be a feature on the Monday.
Re: Non league
Had a look through the counties results, Droylsden played their first competitive game since 2000 which had a crowd of 955. The club folded during the first lockdown.
I think the IoM tourist board might subsidise travel and accommodation for the opposition. We were going to go when Ramsbottom play, priced it up , think flights were £90 return. Games KO at 6pm.

Re: Non league
Edit the above, it is the club who subsidise travel and accommodation.
Re: Non league
No that photo wasn’t from yesterday’s game. The stand from where that picture was taken was closed. The main stand (left of picture) only the centre sections were in use. The east stand (behind the far goal) and south stand were the stands where mostly all fans were situated.
This is a photo from yesterday’s game (before kick off) taken from the east stand behind the goal.
