Any special memories of Steve Harper?

Any goals, midfield ball carries, dribbles, spring to mind?

Steve Harper was always the player targeted by the fans but he fit into Mullen’s style perfectly in the Fourth Division.

Like every winger he blew hot and cold but there would always be a 5-7 game amazin purple patch in a season. The goal against Aldershot which was expunged from the record books was a great strike. I also remember a wonderful goal against Fulham at home when we won 5-2. He was an important part of the 4th division championship team but seemed to struggle a bit in the higher division.

Bit of an obscure one, but I remember him scoring a decent goal against Dynamo Moscow when we played them in that friendly and it looked like they were going to get a cricket score against us.

Here is Harper scoring an end-to-end goal for Mansfield Town in 1995, strangely assisted by Kurt Nogan of Brighton.

Certainly when he first came, but he turned into a bit of a favourite a level up.

His expunged goal at Aldershot is at 1:32 on the link below. What a brilliant (no) goal 😂😲

Didn't he score a great goal against Derby in the Fa cup?

One of the craziest celebrations on the Longside I can remember.

Does that mean I didn't actually go?
I actually woke up on my living room after a Mad Friday session and nearly didn't make the mini bus 🤔

I seem to recall a belting opening goal against West Bromwich Albion in 92-93.

I remember it more because I was late arriving, so it was virtually the first thing I saw from thdt game. :D

Steve Harpers goal v Shots was not included because Shots when bust and hadn't the money to pay the film company
It looked like we would never score that night till Steve unleashed his drive into the top corner.A great goal that won me a curry as my bet with a Shots supporting mate came in.

It was 21st December 1991, 3pm kickoff and blowing a gale in Aldershot that afternoon. Harper’s goal was a cracker but wind assisted, I played in goal for London Clarets v Aldershot supporters that same morning and took a goal kick which went a few yards in the air before spinning back over my head for a corner due to the high winds. The highlights of the Clarets’ game, showing both Harper and Lancashires goals were on the BFC highlight video (not the recent rehash) for that season which I still have somewhere.

One of my favourite ever goals (Northampton away). Stood in the away end, right behind the goal, when he crossed it for Conroy to chest it down and volley it into the net.
