Assuming Cullen is unavailable
Muric
O'Shea (RB)
Al-Dakhil
Beyer
Roberts (LB)
Redmond
Berge
Brownhill
Zaroury
Amdouni
Foster
We looked a threat at the Etihad for 30/35 minutes because we had enough pace throughout the team to apply the press and create chances as a result

If no Cullen:
Muric

Berge Brownhill

Maybe JBG and Redmond the other way round. Ideally Cullen would be in and Brownhill higher up the pitch.

I notice that Redmond has been included by quite a few, however, he has not been signed by Burnley and is a free agent. VK decided that he was surplus to requirement because of other players signed.

Fairly baffling how many want Trafford to start so soon and after his few shaky performances so far.
You have to earn the shirt, regardless of how much you might’ve cost.

It may be a case of bringing Trafford on slowly. I don't see this as an ideal PL debut for either'keeper, TBH.
Re: Starting 11 for Citeh?
I’ve changed my mind from the other day if Cullen and Benson aren’t fit.
I’d start:
Gk Muric
RB Al dahkil
CB Ekdal or O’Shea
CBBeyer
LB Roberts
CMCork
CM Berge
CM Brownhill
RW Redmond
LW Zaroury
CF Foster

So many different thoughts and ideas, how refreshing that actually to some degree i can see merit at this stage in every suggestion. It just screams out competition for place pretty much everywhere

Probably far too experimental for a game like this, but I just think Roberts has been tested quite a bit in pre-season in midfield and with Cullen injured I’m not sure. Thought process being that he would switch in tandem probably with O’Shea. Left back I’ve no idea, I’ve gone for Ameen as he did OK there against Betis.

Re: Starting 11 for Citeh?
Really interesting to see other people’s selections and for me identifies probably only 4/5 ‘guaranteed’ starters for tomorrow. By that I’m thinking Beyer, Roberts, Brownhill, Anass and Amdouni are the as near as you can get to being dead certs for tomorrow’s starting 11.

Much as that could be our starting line-up it doesn't inspire confidence that we could get something out of the game.
It will take a master stroke of game management to get anything.....

I hope he proves you wrong too, but with your approach he wouldn’t ever get a chance to.
I have a really good feeling about Foster, and Twine for that matter, and we really must trust Vinny and his opinion too.
I do think there’s scope for the club shop to stock some Lyle and Scott apparel too

Re: Starting 11 for Citeh?
Everyone seems to be including Berge but I’d be surprised given he hasn’t played any pre-season games and only had a few training sessions. I think the starting line-up will consist mainly of last season’s personnel - maybe O’Shea and Redmond (in the assumed absence of Benson) the exceptions.
Re: Starting 11 for Citeh?
Quite possbily the best midfielder at the club or will bescouseclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 7:37 amEveryone seems to be including Berge but I’d be surprised given he hasn’t played any pre-season games and only had a few training sessions. Re: Starting 11 for Citeh?
Given our lack of options at LB, and VK's decision to only utilise Charlie Taylor as a CB last season, I can see us going three at the back with Roberts playing as a defensive midfielder. I'm probably miles away with this but we could well pack out the middle of the pitch and force City wide.
Redmond has to start for me, purely due to him having previous PL experience.
I suspect Foster will start purely due to his work rate - he'll need to chase more than a few lost causes and hope he forces errors by pressing high!!

Re: Starting 11 for Citeh?
Bit surprised at those picking Trafford. I’m sure he will be great but just now he didn’t exactly sparkle in the pre seasons and Muric has done pretty much nothing wrong in the last twelve months. No brainer for me - Muric all day.
Re: Starting 11 for Citeh?
I’m surprised no mention of Vitinho at LB. He played ahead of Taylor in that position last season so why the assumption Charlie starts tonight. I’m another in the Muric camp so

Vitinho

Re: Starting 11 for Citeh?
Team news on the official site is almost impressively opaque.
"There are no fresh injury concerns for the Clarets with forward Michael Obafemi still the only long-term absence following his injury and operation in June."
No mention of Benson or Cullen at all.

Keeper is anyone’s guess but Muric deserves his chance
You’d think the back 4 would be nailed on -
Roberts
Ekdal
Beyer
Taylor
Although Al Dak may be in with a shout
Cork, Brownhill and Zaroury are highly likely
Think the other positions are where the questions are - probably Foster and Redmond and JBG most likely

Cullen has missed the final few weeks of pre-season with a calf issue. It has only been a precaution however and he has trained this week so is expected to feature against Manchester City tonight.

I think the slightest possibility of a positive outcome tonight of some sort is probably somewhat reliant on Cullen being involved.
