Lancashire League cricket

Post by sjb » Sun Aug 13, 2023 11:46 am

Strangely quiet on here after yesterday's games - could there possibly be new league leaders...? ;)

Littleborough fully deserved their win at the House this afternoon.

Batting first the home side built a solid platform and then it went pear shaped after a delay for rain.

It was a bit of a walk in the park for the visitors with their pro doing his job.

Well done to the Boro.

I've been at the 'Ouse this afternoon and was just glad it stayed (mostly!) fine. We saw some excellent cricket from both teams, but the better team on the day won the cup, possibly due to one team's pro firing and the other having an off day. A good crowd and superb organisation as it always is down there.

A big dilemma now, as the Final is the day of the Villa game.

I bet there's 50 Season Ticket holders in players and fans at Padiham CC.

Some of us have class, always makes me laugh when those that don’t even bother watching their side come online giving it the big one.

Got to say it's the first time I've seen the MOM awarded to a player who gets 1 for, and didn't bat..

Strange one that. If they weren't giving it to Bryce, who clearly was man of the match, then I'd have thought our wk, Matty Hernon was more deserving. Bit cheeky that Lenny! upthecolne.

I thought that was an odd decision. The MOM should have been the Littleborough stumper. He took some fantastic catches and stumped Ben Heap.

Reminder of the 1984 Benson & Hedges final between Lancs and Warwickshire. It was my first visit to Lord's and I saw Lancs win comfortably after bowling out Warwickshire for less than 140 with Alvin Kallacharran scoring over half of their runs. Paul Allott took a few wickets and I think Stephen Jefferies did too. The man of the match was awarded to Lancashire captain John Abrahams. He didn't bowl and was out for a duck.

Why all the anti Lowerhouse comments on here , i can understand Longsidelenny after all the thumpings we have given Colne over the years.

The final did not go the way I would have liked but we were outplayed in all depts. The game was played in a largely good spirit the only real blemish was the disgraceful abuse Schofield gave the umpire after he was given out. Well done Littleborough.

UTH

Surprised to see Lowerhouse get walloped in the cup.

I watched the last half hour on youtube. I’m in favour of more commentators being plied with alcohol. Far more entertaining and signs of a good day.

Lots of teams in with a chance of the title.
