Places to eat in Nottingham
Places to eat in Nottingham
Hi
Anyone have any recommendations within a 20 minute walk of the ground for pub grub tomorrow? I suggested hooters but the wife said I can't take the kids in and they aren't too happy about waiting outside so looking for some suggestions. TIA

I like the pitcher and piano in Nottingham. Can't remember exactly but it'll be about a mile / 20 mins walk

Stuart Broad has a decent eating pub down there, not sure how far from the ground though.
Hooters is well over rated. Quite a tame place really. Over charge you for burgers and chicken wings for the staff dressing moderately sexy.

The " Larwood and Voce " is decent enough, according to my Cousin who lives about a mile away from the City Ground, it backs on to Trent Bridge ... not part of a massive chain, the owners run just one other establishment ...

It's online too.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 8:55 pmThe club recommended Hooters? Well you can't accuse them of not knowing the fanbase?

Re: Places to eat in Nottingham
Hooters is recommended by clubs and police forces because it's large enough to accommodate groups of fans who haven't planned beyond the immediate vicinity.
I wouldn't personally recommend it but it's perfectly fine and it will be ideal for a lot of our fans.

There's a chippy and a McDonalds 2 minutes away from the ground.
If you want more choice head to West Bridgford town centre. It's only a single row of shops but there's plenty of choice and it's a nice area. You can google the details and what's there.

Re: Places to eat in Nottingham
Right - first up, I wouldn't even bother going into the city centre to eat (or for anything else quite frankly). It's further from the ground and it's a dump. That being said, if you're going with kids, there's a 'seaside' entertainment thingy on Market Square which might keep them amused for a while.
Stuart Broad's place is The Tap and Run and it's in Upper Broughton (about 10 miles out of town towards Melton Mowbray. Unless you've a car, I'd forget that.
In terms of eating somewhere handy for the ground, I'd head to West Bridgford. Here's my best effort at where to go....
Trent Bridge Inn (The TBI) - Wetherspoons. On the cricket ground. You know what you're going to get.....it's Spoons!!
Larwood and Voce - literally the opposite corner of the cricket ground to the TBI. Not been in a while but it used to be pretty decent. As mentioned above, it's independent too, so not 'chain food'.
Stratford Haven - great for beer. Less good for food. More bar snack stuff but the ale is great Part of the Castle Rock brewery lot
Cote Brasserie, Wagammas, Giggling Squid, Pizza Express - all chains on Central Avenue in West Bridgford (the main shopping bit and less than half a mile from the ground). Again, you know what you're going to get and how much it'll cost.
Gilt - run by a Forest fan (he's called Willow) and good mate of Sean Dyche. Bit of home crowd in there so don't go in wearing colours. Food decent.
Test Match (pub) - big Greene King art deco pub. Not eaten there for a while. Standard pub grub last time I went. OK. Beer good here too (and usually have Tim Taylors on, if that's your thing) amongst a decent range of ales.
Hope that helps.
See you all down there later.....
