My logic behind that decision was because inevitably Amdouni will be more advanced and I think we will miss his dribbling from deeper in the pitch.BleedingClaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 7:33 pmI can’t see Ramsey starting and I personally think Berge Will & needs to start
I think Ramsey could offer us that

Although I still think Berge can do that too

He may have finished a couple of games in that position last season but he didn’t start one on the right and never played a full 90 there.Anthonini wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 1:49 pmHe did play there a couple of times last season and he's played as a 10 and on the right at Willem II in the Dutch league. Been through the youth academy as a playmaker so he can play about any attacking position. Don't see what JBG can do better than Tresor who looked about twice as fast vs Nottingham. Our danger mostly comes from the Koleosho side because he's able to go deep and make those runs with speed and skills to go past players. Tresor can bring the same on the right or they can switch sides from time to time.
Yes he’s played as a 10 and been (very) occasionally deployed on the right but his Belgian POTY season and record assist numbers came when deployed almost exclusively as a left winger. Changing him to play on the right just seems like we’ll limit him, be like playing Benson on the left (which he has done in the past too but would limit one of his strengths)

Re: Team for Man U
Our challenge tonight will be a little like that against Spurs. We can expect United to press high and challenge us to get through, round or over the press. Foster would've really helped with that, but no point on crying over spilt milk.
Back four absolutely has to be that which started at Forest, with the full backs natural in their positions. Midfield 3 absolutely essential, with Berge and Brownhill flanking Cullen. Koleosho will start and you'd want to see him left high so we can use his pace in behind as an out ball. Amdouni presumably starts by default up front and then the question is whether JBG, Tresor or Zaroury gets the nod om the opposite flank. You can make an argument for any but you'd expect Tresor to get a go provided we are confident he is switched on to the defensive demands of the Premier League.

I'm more relaxed about this. I don't think we know enough about exactly how he was used in Belgium, or exactly what his strengths are, to know whether playing off the left innately helps him, or whether that's just where he was playing when he grew up as a player, or whether the position was very nominal and he had free rein.Mattster wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 8:20 amHe may have finished a couple of games in that position last season but he didn’t start one on the right and never played a full 90 there.

He'll have to be more disciplined here and as a result playing off the left might suit him a lot less.
He showed at Forest some glimpses of being comfortable on the right and for now the most important thing is he gets minutes to help him adapt to English football. A birthday like Amdouni, he needs to fit into the team as much as the team needs to accommodate him.
Re: Team for Man U
I wouldn't compare Tresor to Benson I think he has way more pace and different qualities. Whereas Benson is almost like Arjen Robben cutting inside and curling it in. Tresor is way more versatile and has a good through ball and vision to play in the center of the pitch.
On the wings he can cut inside but also go down the line and deliver a good cross. I'd compare him more to a faster more adventurous light version Kevin De Bruyne who can also play about anywhere and do good things from that position.
I see Tresor as a possible 10 left or right winger. Against Nottingham he played on the right and I think he looked very promising. Koleosho is doing good on the left so I'd just leave him there at the moment or make em switch sides from time to time.
Look at his stats at Willem II and at Anderlecht youth and you'll see an allround player. More a playmaker who plays both sides. At Genk mostly on the left but I wouldn't limit him to just one position.

Hmmm, heard some surprising news about the team. Came on here to check if anyone had called it and only one has.
Let’s see but not buying it was a guess if it turns out to be right!

Re: Team for Man U
I can't really remember Vinny sending a team out without a biggish physical striker up front. Whether it has been Barnes, Jay or Foster, we've pretty much always has someone strong, around 6ft and willing to put himself about leading the line. I can't really remember us playing, for lack of a better term, someone 'lightweight' as a central striker save for the odd time when Tella played there, but while Tella is not exactly 'lightweight' and is a bit more physical than Amdouni, even then you could tell it wasn't Vinny's preference to play someone like that as the 9/false 9. Jay starting would be totally unsurprising to me, because while Tresor and Amdouni and Zaroury and the like are probably more dangerous, having someone like Jay in the team has always been the way those aforementioned players are brought into the game.

Re: Team for Man U
Ramsey was the surprise.
My info was wrong though, I was also told Tresor was starting which would have made Newcastles team correct.
