£100m Player
£100m Player
Keep seeing the quote by Vinnie saying that he believes we have our first £100m player in our ranks.
Who do we think it is?
I believe he said it before we'd signed Koleosho (or at least before we'd had a good look at him), other wise he'd be my bet (alongside Zaroury, Benny etc)

Foster for me, the sky is the limit for him and historically players who put the ball in the onion bag tend to transfer for higher fees.

Could be any of 4-5 of them, I think we are probably a few years from that though

Re: £100m Player
It won't just be 1 player, we will need a number of players to excel for 1 to reach a £100m. Look at Brighton, it takes time for the standard value of your players to increase.
You need to sell a £50m player before you can even think of £100m.

£100m players at present are the ones who have already won the European Cup/Champions League and are going to a club with even more money. Not promising youngsters (however good) from the lower reaches.

He said post Man U, that we haven't seen our best players yet, presumably still settling in to the system.
Whoever it is we have some serious talent, and a lot of 'profit' throughout the squad.

So is VK wrong/speaking hyperbole/trying to fluff the value of our players in your opinion? Genuine question.

I don’t think Grealish had played in European Competition when City paid £100 million for him.
Re: £100m Player
Enzo Fernandez had played less than ten Champions League games when Chelsea signed him.

Re: £100m Player
Has Kompany actually said that we will get £100 million for a player? I don't think so.
Surely he is referring to future value, so it could be we sell player A to club B for £25 / 30 million, player A then moves from club B to C for say £50 million and then from club C to club D for £100 million.
That would be my interpretation of what he is saying.

None of the players that went for over £100m this summer have won the Champions League.

Re: £100m Player
£100m signings currently are either the very best in the world moving between superclubs or very good players moving from clubs who don't want to sell to very rich clubs. We aren't in either position and aren't likely to be any time soon.
I doubt Kompany has given as much thought to the idea of us selling a player for £100m as most people in this thread.

Re: £100m Player
I think there's a few who have the potential to become a top player. To start from the back, Trafford, Al Dakhil, Beyer... perhaps Berge. I really like Ramsey and he looks like a very complete player so far. If he can improve the same way Zaroury and Benson did we're in for a treat. Odobert Kolosheo Tresor Amdouni even Foster could keep getting better under VK.
If Benson Zaroury and Larsen can adapt to the PL... You never know, but to be 100m worth you got to be world class but hey if Benson curls those in vs Liverpool and City he will become quite famous. Also Cullen is still young and has unique abilities in nowadays football. If he can grow along with the team, he's already went up alot in value over the last year.

I think it’s hyperbole on VK’s part but you would hope the majority of them will increase in value and we can sell for a healthy profit.

I very much doubt Burnley will receive £100m for a player. However, a player who we currently have may well at some point in their career go for £100m.
God knows who though. Beyer?

I wouldn't put it past us having a £100m player. But not in the current market. The prices will go up though, and in 2-3 years its possible. We have some young gems with real potential
Foster, Amdouni, Koleosho, Odobert, Zaroury, AAD...

Re: £100m Player
this might seem off base, but I'm thinking Trafford. Not on current form, but I think he might be getting the nod ahead of Muric because with a halfway decent showing, he could command a decent fee.
Foster is looking like the real deal, and I wouldn't be surprised if he goes next year.

Re: £100m Player
I don't actually have an opinion on whether it's right or wrong to say it. But I do think that if the £100m player is there, he's far more likely to move on somewhere bigger for a lesser sum and then be sold for £100m+ when he has proved himself at Champions League level. Obviously if one of ours plays exceptionally well internationally, it becomes just possible.

Chelsea used their financial clout to get players other were looking at, Caicedo is a perfect example. Liverpool would never have gone to £100m for him which meant his only destination was going to be Chelsea.
Lukaku - never £100m player
Enzo Fernandez - Looks a good player but never £100m player...yet
Mudryk - not quiet £100m
Kane, Mbappe, Bellingham, even Rice at a stretch are worth that money in today's markets.

Re: £100m Player
Won't bother me or VK if our £100m player is worth it, should the time come. We are more likely to sell a player for £100m because a rich club decides to pay too much than any other reason.bf2k wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 2:55 pmand are they really worth £100m? Re: £100m Player
Amdouni was described as a potential Messi type player last season. If he can start banging them in he could easily raise his value by a factor of 5 or 6 times

Are you sure?

Re: £100m Player
You could pretty much say that about most players.
Realistically though not many players score more than 15 goals a season in the PL. Even less players 20 plus. That’s the kind of thing he would have to do for his value to increase by 5 or 6 times.
Re: £100m Player
OK. if you want to be literal about it, £100m players are usually those who have challenged at the top level of European competition (unless Chelsea are bidding), or who have an English premium AND have multiple England caps.

Looking at a Premier League Table for matches played in 2023 and Chelsea are bottom of the table for goals scored. Even Leicester have scored more PL goals in 2023 than Chelsea!
Chelsea certainly don’t possess a £100m striker.

Re: £100m Player
That really depends on whether we have multiple interested parties. Alan Pace used to head up securities sales at Citi. I’m pretty sure he knows how to negotiate, bide his time and strike the best deal if we’re ever fortunate enough to have an asset worth £50m+.Winstonswhite wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 8:26 pmIt’ll never happen. Re: £100m Player
I think the most likely are Foster, Amdouni and Odobert. Seen little of all of them to say it but I get the feeling that they are the ones with the highest ceilings. Koleosho also already worth way way more than we paid… Benson, Zaroury, Trafford, Beyer, AAD, Ramsey, Messengo and more have huge potential. Also I don’t think he’s played well yet but Tresor looks like he could be massive.
