Leeds First Direct Arena
I'm off to see New Order at the First Direct Arena in Leeds straight from Turf Moor on Saturday.
Is it better to park at the Arena, or elsewhere.
I am not overly familiar with Leeds and have never been to a gig at this venue.
Regards

Re: Leeds First Direct Arena
I always park in Woodhouse lane car park. Easy to get out after and only a 5 min walk to the arena.
Re: Leeds First Direct Arena
We go in by train, it’s only a short 10 mins walk. But by car as Cowick Claret has suggested Woodhouse Lane is a good shout. Hope you enjoy it.
Re: Leeds First Direct Arena
Wood house car park is very near and the cheapest in town

Leeds college of building on Byron Street.. Only has parking restrictions during college hours. Free and a five minute walk from the arena.
All the street parking around that area is free on evenings too. No big queues to get out of multi-storeys.

The price of concerts these days astound me. Simple Minds £175
Re: Leeds First Direct Arena
The stage shows are getting bigger and better therefore more expensive to put on. This is reflected in the ticket price. Even Kylie has a host of dancers, acrobats and stage pyrotechnics these days so the big bands need to step up even more.

Don’t park in the one next to the venue, it can take over an hour to get outdepechedingle wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 6:28 amI'm off to see New Order at the First Direct Arena in Leeds straight from Turf Moor on Saturday.

This is your best bet and use Trafalgar Street or Bridge Street on your Sat Nav and this will take you to where there are 5 or 6 streets with free parkingTheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 7:26 amLeeds college of building on Byron Street.. Re: Leeds First Direct Arena
The best thing about being into small venues like The Trade's Club, Manc Deaf Institute and Brudenell in Leeds, is that you can still see bands for under £30.00. Bob Mould, Jesca Hoop and Cockney Rejects coming up before Christmas. The most expensive ticket is £25.00.Acting Claret wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 7:59 amThe price of concerts these days astound me. I wouldn't pay £175 for a gig, no matter how 'big' a band or artist was in the past. When Jim Kerr sings 'don't you forget about me', instead of waving lighters or mobile phones in the air, the crowd should sing back 'not at £175 a ticket, we won't'.
Re: Leeds First Direct Arena
It's a lot of money, but the business model of the music industry is changing. Producing music generates little or no revenue. The music, arguably, is now the loss-leader.Acting Claret wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 7:59 amThe price of concerts these days astound me. Simple Minds £175
The entertainment, the show, the performance is now the product. So as karatekid rightly says, the scale of the shows is growing.

How far away is the Arena from all the pubs in the centre of Leeds?

I saw Sleeper at the Corn Exchange Hertford last month and it was £30 a ticket, but you got a free ticket with your purchase, so £15 a ticket. I am seeing Big Country there in November and tickets for that were around the £30 mark. Much prefer smaller venues to the arenas or stadiums but aware you can't see the bigger name bands at small venues.Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 9:06 amThe best thing about being into small venues like The Trade's Club, Manc Deaf Institute and Brudenell in Leeds, is that you can still see bands for under £30.00. Another vote for wood house lane car park. Park high up though, can’t remember if it’s top floor. There’s a ramp that goes from top of the car park to the bottom which makes for a quick getaway. However, last time I went in July they were doing work on it so it was closed off but you could still access the lower part of it from I think floor 7. Don’t park low though, it takes an age to get out.

It’s more or less in the centre. Maybe 5/10 min walk from Becketts bank.alancal1973 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 11:59 amHow far away is the Arena from all the pubs in the centre of Leeds?

Re: Leeds First Direct Arena
I would recommend parking at the pin. Grower street. Cheaper than most places. If you want to get closer to the blue dot live location (my work), there are some free spots. It’s about 5-6 mins from the pin, 2 minutes further from the blue dot.
Re: Leeds First Direct Arena
Get the train to stand any chance. Leeds city centre has major roadworks at the moment causing horrendous traffic issues, you will not make it in time if you leave after the Turf.
A friend of mine left Burnley at 5 ish Saturday to go to Leeds Arena and was still no where near by 8pm and turned back.
If you are driving I'd recommend going through Bingley way and entering Leeds centre from that side, DO NOT go the motorway and down the M621 as J2 is closed.

Brudenell is my favourite Leeds venue. They occasionally get some big artists like Tom Jones.Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 9:06 amThe best thing about being into small venues like The Trade's Club, Manc Deaf Institute and Brudenell in Leeds, is that you can still see bands for under £30.00. The train would be all well and good if the last train was later than 2257, unless I miss a good half an hour of the gig to guarantee getting back to Burnley.

Re: Leeds First Direct Arena
You’ll be fine. Leeds are at home so traffic coming into the City won’t be too bad. J2 of the M621 is now closed, but you can still get in via J1 or J3.
Most parking recommendations will be fine and you’ll still get there in plenty of time.

Re: Leeds First Direct Arena
What nonsense, I can get back to my home in Leeds in 75 mins after the Turf on a Saturday and it would take me 10 mins to drive into town to park around the arena from my house. Think you're mate got really unlucky with traffic that day as no way its even taking you over 2 hours never mind 3.bumba wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 2:43 pmGet the train to stand any chance. Depends which way you go and also depends where you live in Leeds, he went M62 then M621, J2 closed all traffic sent through J3 with 10 roads in Leeds centre around the city square all closed. One way traffic took hours and missed his show.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 9:40 pmWhat nonsense, I can get back to my home in Leeds in 75 mins after the Turf on a Saturday and it would take me 10 mins to drive into town to park around the arena from my house. You said to stand any chance of getting there for the gig you need to catch the train. This is nonsense as if you take the right route (Keighley or Ilkley) you'll do it easily within two hours.bumba wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 9:48 pmDepends which way you go and also depends where you live in Leeds, he went M62 then M621, J2 closed all traffic sent through J3 with 10 roads in Leeds centre around the city square all closed. Read the thread fully and what I wrote I said do not go the motorway and to go that route your talking about so they'd be entering the centre the opposite way.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 9:51 pmYou said to stand any chance of getting there for the gig you need to catch the train. Re: Leeds First Direct Arena
Im not gonna argue bout this as its not that important but you literally said this which is nonscience
Im not questioning your mate had a nightmare journey but thats cos he went the wrong route. The response to that isn't you need to get the train but you need to take the right route which you even mentioned yourself
