Greggs sausage rolls are the staple diet of every runny nosed kid in Burnley.

It seems like a day doesn’t go by on here without a thread about pies.

At least they're spending their money on food

Someone recently told me that the frozen Greggs sausage rolls at Iceland, in an air fryer from frozen for 12 minutes are as good as you’ll get.

Hadn’t been in Iceland for 20 years. Was in town so picked up a bag and they are sensational!

There are some enlightening posts on the thread.

Places that Oddies are still out there are limited to the East Lancs area and some have gone by the wayside, the one in the arcade in Accy being an example.

I don't use Gregg's because they do shortcust pastry instead of the flaky pastry you get at Oddies - I may be wrong..

As a last resort I have a local supplier of Haffners which is no bad thing - pairing their Meat and Onion with the usual accompanying stuff - Beef gravy, Mushy peas, pickled onion, beetroot and red cabbage.

There is good eating to be had out there.

One of the real casualties of Brexit and rising electricity prices is that i can no longer nip to a local iceland for some of these beauties

Oddies is crap, it’s just glorified because it’s “local”.

Massively overpriced, sandwiches are rubbish, never have enough stock.

Sad cake is thinner with the currants showing through. Chorley cake thicker with the currants in the middle as a filling.
Eccles cake made with flaky/puff pastry, the other 2 shortcrust.

Probably being run by the accountants now after Bill Oddie passed away.
Thought as much myself , Bill was the beating heart of the business and often manned the counters himself at weekends.

The bearded funster ,mainly keeping his famously ferocious temper in check, except the time he threatened to douse a mad old woman in boiling oxtail soup for asking if he was “that David Bellamy of the telly “

I met him once at a Lancs CCC sportsman dinner at Old Trafford. He was an interesting character, not a shy man.

Bill Oddie was a lovely chap and a good boss to work for. I think his daughter, Laura(?) is now in charge. One of our regular posters who I first met when working at Oddies nearly 40 years ago will be able to provide more info. I know the bakery manager was a department manager when I started there straight from school so he must have over 40 years service.

Haven’t done that Tony, but have done something which perhaps sounds as daft.
I've taken some there, eaten 'em and come back home in the same day.
Part of a packed lunch me and Mrs Hattrick took when we went on an Airtours day trip - yep, that’s right a day trip – from Manchester to Reykjavik about 20 years ago.

I didn't know him really but met him a couple of times when he was playing for Nelson in the Lancashire League. He always met with eli's approval because he brought the cakes.
