Poor goal to concede again unfortunately. A poor header to lose in the centre of our box and O'Shea simply ball watching which is inexcusable imo

Sadly true.
Good teams find ways to win. Bad teams find ways to lose.

Very frustrating weak play after a really decent half

Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
Shame that.
This first half has been the most professional performance of this season with the defence actually looking capable, Trafford looking comfortable and the midfield competing well.

I don't know what the stats are but I feel like we concede so many goals 40-45 mins every time we're in the premier league. And never ever score them in the same time period. We've played well but it's really annoying.

Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
O'Shea,Beyer and Trafford had all had a brilliant half and then a combination error. I was thinking hang on til 60-70 mins, get Obafemi and Odobert on for pace and we could even nick this.THEWELLERNUT70 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 3:50 pmPoor goal to concede again unfortunately. Big rethink at half time now. Will we do our usual second half capitulation or will we rally.

Played well, actually looked solid and organised, and concede a weak as **** goal just before HT.

We’d be on 12-13 points if we had approached every game this season in this manner.

Not much coming from Jay or Amdouni (apart from the one shot)
Goals win games and we just don't seem to have the necessary up front

Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
Shame to concede just before the end of the half. That was a much more ‘back to basics’ half of football though and note that we still created as many chances whilst being much more pragmatic off the ball. Need to stay in the game for 25/30 mins and see what happens.

Very good first half. The 4-4-2 looks much more solid. Terrible goal to concede but fair is fair they've done a lot better in defence than I thought they would and lots of positives.

Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
Too often this season we have started with a very high tempo and literally shot our bolt physically within the opening 25-30 minutes. Koleosho and Amdouni are usually the first to drop off, I think this approach suits us better and not just because it is Arsenal we are facing.

4 in the league so far ( including today )willsclarets wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 3:51 pmI don't know what the stats are but I feel like we concede so many goals 40-45 mins every time we're in the premier league. Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
Jay's playing a big part in the defensive setup. They can't get through the centre at all because he's screening the centre midfielders.

We’re doing our best, sadly goal conceded again by lack of presence in our own box. Trafford should attack ball and not stand back. Trossard one of the smallest players on the pitch 🫣

Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
Think Zarourys just out of favour.
Also neither were starting when fit. Benny got the occasional 70min sub and Ekdal was cup only.
Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
Arsenal soon worked out that Trafford never leaves his line except once when he flapped and missed a cross. Hence they are just bombarding our area with crosses. He made 2 decent saves but teams like Arsenal pick in any weakness
Saka header to Trossard header says it all

Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
I think Jay has been pretty good, certainly offered more than Amdouni who continues to frustrate me. Loses the ball too much, runs down blind alleys, can’t score, doesn’t work hard…Jay isn’t for this league anymore but no doubting his effort as a deputy till Lyle has got healthy.

Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
If our team plays like this and gives they’re all like this in a tough league we can’t ask anymore from them the last game and half. Bad goal to concede but I think we give ourselves a fighting chance to stay up playing like this. There is f**k all in the bottom 4 we are a win away from being out of it.

Muric catches that whilst still in the air.

Because Ekdal, and Benson have only played 60 mins for the U21’s after long injuries.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 3:53 pmWhy on earth Ekdal Benny and Zaroury aren't starting?

Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
Absolute killer. Felt the same under Dyche too towards the end, just inevitable. Anyway, still hope
Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
Definitely still in this , next goal so important
Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
Agree with all of that. Cocaine footy is viable if you can kill a team in the first half, but you realistically need to be at least 2 clear to do that, then be insanely composed in possession everywhere on the pitch.Goody1975 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 3:56 pmToo often this season we have started with a very high tempo and literally shot our bolt physically within the opening 25-30 minutes. Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
Are you happy with this? A decent performance when proper football is played, trouble against a good side mainly comes from messing about at the back....Trafford who has had a decent game pulled put out of that one, inexcusable against one of yhe smallest players on the pitch ...if you are happy to see Burnley sleepwalk to the Championship and probably beyond with crazy tactics and ridiculous team selections...where is is a solid centre midfieldet like Jack Cork? then I hope you enjoy crunch matches against Forest Green Rovers and the like in the future I certainly won't I still wake up in a cold sweat remembering Burnley vs Cardiff in 1986 I dont think I can takd that again
Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
We're 1-0 down, sure, but you can't look at that first half and say we're not defending well as a team. Plus he's had a chance at goal, which is more than a lot of other players get at arsenal.

Re: Gooners v Clarets match thread
No doubt we’ve been **** this season but to say all this because we’re losing 1-0 at the Emirates against one of the best sides in the world having competed really well is harsh.Petersa wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 4:05 pmAre you happy with this? 1-0 down against Arsenal and we are a team that can't score

Worst thing is Arsenal only played at about 50%. Just hope they don’t step it up in second
