Let’s not get carried away
That was a **** poor Sheffield United team, they will finish bottom quite comfortably. They made us look like Man City. That was our easiest game of the season.
Our 2 wins have been against the two teams we come up with, now we need to kick on and start beating some of the better teams.
Good performance today and it’s a start to get ourselves out of the mess we put ourselves in.
Hopefully this is a massive confidence boost going into a winnable game away at Wolves !

Re: Let’s not get carried away
I completely know where you're coming from, but I think we *can* get carried away just a little bit... That wasn't just a win, it was a demolition and could have been by a much bigger margin. Completely avenged last season's worst performance and what an important result against a team we must finish above. Recent performances have shown that we're acclimatising to the Premier League and beginning to be competitive. We might not beat Wolves midweek - but today has shown the clarets that we *can* win - and that can only help!

I’m getting carried away because I think we can play like that against better teams. It’s been slowly getting there we should of had 7-9 points out the last 3 home games,we certainly deserved them.It can only give us confidence now I think we will definitely improve. There is no denying we are firmly back in the mix.People are probably wanting forest to win now,but I believe there is more than 4 involved by the time Xmas is over.

A huge turnaround in our performances against Sheff Utd since our beating last November 5th.

Re: Let’s not get carried away
Sheffield United are crap, and the sending off helped us - but we showed we’re such a better team than them and I don’t think anyone would have predicted a 5-0 victory, so today couldn’t really have been any better.
This win has been coming with really encouraging performances over the past few weeks. We’re starting to look more at home in this division and we now need to kick on and start picking points up on a regular basis.

It’s clear you have high expectations and have struggled to accept the huge task this division presents.ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2023 5:29 pmThat was a **** poor Sheffield United team, they will finish bottom quite comfortably. ClaretsPadiham
What mess have we put ourselves in exactly?
Every Club already in the PL has more experience than us and there aren't any we should expect to be better than.
This is only the 2nd time we have played a side of similar stature, the 1st being Luton and we have won both. Even without the sending off we would have won today.
People getting carried away because we failed to beat Bournemouth probably based on beating them in the FA Cup last season. Obviously our own Cup record against lower league clubs under SD only works one way.
I will take stock of how we have done at the end of the season and not 5 minutes after every game.

Re: Let’s not get carried away
I don’t think today tells us too much about ourselves tbh, it’s hard to judge us on that game, as well as we played at times as Sheffield were beyond dire today, that’s a team that’s given up playing for the manager big time.
Enjoy it, take the confidence boost for a few of the lads and a clean sheet, but this only matters if we follow it up with another one or 2 results before Xmas otherwise we will be going down with them.

We have:
Wolves A
Brighton A
Everton H
Fulham A
Then Liverpool on Boxing Day.
I reckon 4-6 points could be had there.

Well if we got three points thanks to a couple of iffy var decisions on boxing day, that would make my Christmas.

Hopefully, this result and the fact some of the younger players have had a determining affect on the game, they will progress and we’ll pick up something at Wolves on Tuesday.
There’s an awful lot of of talent in this team. They need time and experience. Today should help them enormously.
Keep getting behind them. I believe there is more to come.

Re: Let’s not get carried away
A good performance today and much more dangerous in their 3rd. The sending off helped but really we had dominated the first half Nd were deservedly 2 clear. 2nd half we tired them out and then took them apart.
Yes they were poor but really some of this is be abuse we played well. Take that level into more games and continue to take chances ces and we will win more. That's going to give e us every chance in the 2nd half of the season

Re: Let’s not get carried away
Never understand the notion that fans shouldn’t get carried away with results. The players shouldn’t but what does it matter if supporters do?
We’ve sat through defeat after defeat this season so it’s nice to come away from a game with a bit of optimism.
It’s also entirely possible to simply enjoy a victory on a Saturday evening without “getting carried away”.

Re: Let’s not get carried away
I don’t think there is 1 negative anyone can take from today.
The team was magnificent from start to finish, every one of them and that performance albeit against a poor team was still fantastic.
I really hope this is the spark to ignite our season now.

Read this earlier, still can’t believe someone would start this thread straight after a win I mean, yeah, fairly true but why? What a depressed person you must be to post that straight after a win
Re: Let’s not get carried away
If you aren't giddy after winning 5-0 then stop watching football coz it isn't for you. Top half finish back on the menu boys!!!

If you can’t enjoy today you might as well pack it in,just think you can record match of the day ,Sky at 10-30 and for the first time this season read the Sunday papers.

What a pleasure, to see players running off each other, some great 1-2`s in tight positions, players looking to play through balls to the runners, really a lot of things that we haven`t really done this season effectively, more of the same please boys. UTC
Re: Let’s not get carried away
Only criticism I have ,but only in the first half and apart from Taylor’s cross for the goal I thought our inability to beat the first man with our crosses was quite noticeable.

I've always found that threatening to throw it out of the window helps immeasurably.

This team would annihilate the Championship.
