Rays of hope at Sussex by the Sea

Post by ClaretLoup » Wed Dec 06, 2023 9:30 am

Would everyone like some uplifting rays of hope for our day out by the sea?

I knew you would.

Brighton haven’t won at home in the league since September. Last time out they drew with Sheffield United! They have conceded at least once in every home game. The Clarets have not lost at the Amex since 2013, that’s six games without defeat. Burnley have scored nine times there vs four against.

Burnley have conceded an average of one goal per game over the last three whilst scoring an average of two. So 2 - 1 to Burnley is the likely outcome. Betfair are offering 18/1 ( there are other Turf Accountants, please gamble responsibly)

Burnley have an extra day of rest, Beyer the book will be back and Brighton have a European fixture vs Marseille next midweek to distract them.

One interesting note is that it’s forecast to be very windy (20/40mph ) and wet on Saturday.

Until last evening they hadn't won but outplayed a decent Brentford side.

Our record against Wolves was similarly good prior to the game.

The only ray of hope is that we might finally see the end of O'Shea at the back.

It was - four wins and three draws from the previous seven, not lost against them since August 2018. That one went, now we take our unbeaten Premier League record to Brighton where we've won two and drawn three in five.

Cheers Claret, in which case the rays will be literal rather than metaphorical ;)

Hi Loup, will the rays be literal and also litoral?

Should I look out for you at the seagulls amex stadium on Saturday?

Can't help but think, Loup, Ray Pointer would have a massive outcome on this fixture. Ray was so special.

Brighton have a 100% record this season on BTTS (Both Teams To Score) so hopefully we can find the back of the net at least twice. ;)

Our record at Brighton is irrelevant as we have a different manager with an almost entirely different team and tactics.

Agree, a very long trip for you - even if all the trains are running. I'm heading to the rail station in a few minutes to check what services are running tomorrow.

Enjoy your "granddadding." I've got my day with my two granddaughters next Wednesday: reception class school play for the younger one, then pizza party and staying with them until late while Mum and Dad both attend their, respective, office "holiday season party."

They are also coming to stay over Christmas, including a visit to Kew Gardens Christmas lights on Saturday 23rd (so I won't get be at Craven Cottage, a round trip of maybe 10 miles for me).

Merry Christmas, Loup. Best wishes. Granddad Paul
