I’m running the London Marathon for Blood Cancer UK - sponsors much appreciated
Hi everyone,
I’ll be doing my first marathon next April (London), running to raise funds for Blood Cancer UK.
CT has very kindly given permission to display my fundraising page on here, so if any of you kind souls are able to do so and are willing to send a few pennies my way, it would be hugely appreciated.
My bio target is an absolute minimum of £2000 but I’d like to try and earn as much as I possibly can!!!
Thanks everyone!
Sending best wishes to you all.
John

Donated, John.
Your chosen charity is particularly relevant to me because June died from a form of blood cancer.
Good luck!

John, I was diagnosed with Acute promyelocytic leukaemia in 2014. The long road to recovery was rocky to say the least (chemotherapy, neutropenia, sepsis etc.) and there were several times when I thought I wouldn’t make it. But I did and 5 years later I received a letter to prove it.
It was all down to the fantastic care and attention I received from the NHS and I will be donating to your good cause.
By the way, at a time when I was at a low ebb I received a signed shirt from our club, via David Jones, which reduced me to tears.
Also I have previously completed the London Marathon and raised a similar amount for British Heart Foundation and it is a memory that will last with me forever.
Good luck and well done.

Just a quick note of thanks to those messageboard users who have very kindly offered sponsorship. It’s hugely appreciated.
Please do feel free to follow my progress. I will leave this thread to sink its way down the board for a while now, unless I need to thank anyone.
I will bump it in the post Christmas lull and then in the new year. Have a great Christmas folks and thanks again!

The support is much appreciated. Thank you to those who have sponsored me. Sincerely!
The training is going well, thank you. The long distances provide a mental test that I’ve never faced before. Still, it’s good fun and for a super cause.
Cheers again.

Just done 19-20 laps of the village recreation ground. Deliberately to keep running past the finish line but add another lap on and then another and then another.
Trying trying to mix it up…this time focussing on the psychological aspect of a warm shower being only 50m away

Just under 10miles in just over the hour, solo, is decent running. Don’t know how seriously you are taking your running and probably too late for London but joining a club would bring you on nicely.jdrobbo wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 1:58 pmJust done 19-20 laps of the village recreation ground. Kudos to you for the effort. I had Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APML) in 2016 and the resources Blood Cancer UK provided during the 9 months of treatment was amazing.
I would have donated more but money is tight at the moment. I wish you all the very best!
