Benkenstein to Old Trafford

Dale Benkenstein to leave Gloucester to take over as coach at Lancashire according to Daily Mail. Yorkshireman Chris Silverwood turned down the post.

Benkenstein played several years up here at Durham, well liked, a good all rounder and captain.

At Burnley he scored over 1,000 runs in 1997 but took just 10 league wickets because of an injury - came back in 2001 and scored over 800 runs and took over 50 wickets

According to reports Chris Silverwood and Ryan Campbell turned it down. Interesting appointment.

I'm guessing with his Durham connections he'll be well known to Jennings, hopefully a good combination.
