Re: Awful
I'm baffled by how we're set up to play. Why do we play so much through O'Shea when he is our worst passer? Why play with wingers but very rarely cross the ball into the box? Why slow possession at the back to break the press when the opposition are sitting back? Nothing about it makes sense.

We are watching some weird experiment that is doomed to fail. Someone thought it was a good idea or thinking outside the box.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 7:49 pmIf I wanted to watch a game of young players trying to fulfil their potential I would go and watch the youth team.

Re: Awful
Disappointingly predictable today, sadly. With the exception of trying to whip in high balls (against Tarks and Keane) more than I’ve spotted Burnley doing in the last eighteen months. We needed to tear into them from the kick off, and started ok. Sadly ok was nowhere near good enough, and then we got worse. Everton were always going to out muscle us, we needed a lucky punch early…. Rarely looked like happening. Dyche played it spot on, but it does not take SD to work out how to play against us at the moment.
Last time Everton dominated us like that at Turf at Christmas was the turning point… fingers crossed.

Ok, we’re coming to the halfway point of the season. We’ve 8 points, and 2 wins. can you really see us getting at least 20 more points? I doubt anyone expected a walk over win today but the least we can expect is to be competitive at home to Everton.

Sick of the goalpost moving excuses. Few weeks ago Everton were apparently relegation rivals there for the taking all of a sudden it was unrealistic to expect to win at home. Seems every game is now considered unrealistic to win, can't imagine why a 101pt Championship winner with 80m summer spend expected to be doing better than Luton.

People got their hopes up after the result at Brighton but we were very, very lucky. We have the ability to turn over teams that are worse than Everton. I'm not losing hope yet.
We are playing a lot better now than we were earlier in the season and having Foster and Benson back is a great boost.

I’ve really bought into VK’s experiment but it’s looking like 100m down the drain . We’re so poor it’s almost beyond belief , we’re offering nothing and defensively we’re shocking . Missed Taylor and really need Ekdal and a proper right back .

I identified at least five players who played today who I don't think ‘get it’.
They're not proper Burnley players; in my opinion, they don’t consider it a privilege to wear the shirt and are just playing for a **** team at the bottom of the league.
I don't think I've seen a Burnley performance, especially in that first half so lacklustre at Turf Moor for a long time...
Poor do.

On Dyche , no because he had naff all budget and we were actually showing that we could compete in the premier league!
The following season we certainly weren’t in ‘mid table’ at Hull were we? Right in the hunt

We’re looking certainties for at best 18th and as a result it’s a given we will have some players already thinking about their next move and that then leads to lack of effort/lack of appetite for a tackle to preserve fitness as the season gets past February/March time.

Weak as anything today. The softest Burnley team I can remember. So easy to play against and so predictable. I doubt Everton broke sweat first half. Could barely be bothered to leave the concourse after half time was up.

There are ways to lose. Too many games have seen us lose in a poor manner. Put a few tackles in and run harder. Be physical. Give the fans something to back. Bring us into the game.

Re: Awful
Last season was one of my favourites ever watching the Clarets: we had a team which played fabulous, attacking football, running off the ball into space, team mates passing into that space eveyone knowing what they were doing. When I look at today's starting eleven I see only two players, Brownhill and Beyer, who were certs to get into last season's team. Why have we made so many changes so quickly knowing we were going to be facing top PL teams? Who is responsible for thinking we could bring in so many inexperienced, light weight players from weak European teams and expect them to compete with established PL teams. I really find it hard to comprehend the logic behind our planning for the challenges we knew we would face.

VK stock is plummeting from last season and looks like might have a lot to learn to be a successful premier league manager . His monumental success as a player could be hampering his progress with a stubbornness to accept he has flaws and is on a leaning curve ..

Two (massive) problems.
1. We ALWAYS concede at least one (usually more) dreadfully soft goals to teams who really don't seem much better than us.
2. Having gone behind in games we simply can't show any urgency or change of gear no matter how much the clock is ticking. We ALWAYS play like we're 3-0 up whatever the score!!
Hugely frustrating!!
