Would have been a brilliant signing but I'm not sure how close we ever got to actually signing him. I think it probably went as far as an enquiry into what Coventry wanted, and we then turned our attention to Foster.

Think I remember reading that he turned down Everton and West Ham to join Sporting so I don’t think it was one that was ever really in our grasp tbh

Didn’t get away as such.
He’s a good player but still think he’ll struggle in the Prem where the defenders levels above either Championship or Premeira Liga standards.
