Everton could be deducted more points too according to sky sports for the same offences as Forest

I really wouldn't want to stay in this division because someone got docked points, the only reason we should stay in this division is on merit.

If a team stays up by flouting the rules, have they done so on merit?

Sorry might not be very sporting but needs must ,I’m sure no one would give a toss if it’s to the benefit of their team,in many sports there’s certain degrees of bending the rules which is ok but if you do it deliberately you have to suffer the consequences if you get caught.

Why? The case against City is meticulously being built. But, of course their teams of top lawyers are bombarding the EPL with 'their' materials. They must try to cut through this

This league is corrupt from top to bottom...do you enjoy watching our club get shlt on every week by shlt referee's ....the sooner we leave it the better in my opinion.

Everton should’ve been relegated, never mind only having a ten point deduction.

As for City and Chelsea’s ‘punishments’, I’ll believe them when I see them.

If BFC have stuck to the financial rules while other clubs haven't I'd say that is footballing merit.

I’m sorry but as our club and town have been shat upon for decades, and come to expect it, I’ll believe any benefit to us when I see it.

Too much money in these other clubs for it not to hold some influence.

Of course, it we stay up on points alone it will be richly deserved. And if we stay up due to a points deduction, if proven, it is also richly deserved. Because we stuck to the rules. No way we wouldn’t take it.

City will be done and so will Chelsea. It will just take longer because what they have done is far more complex and over a much longer period than Everton.

But City and Chelsea getting punished is unlikely to have any bearing on our situation. Whereas Notts Forest being deducted points and Everton possibly more points could be important to us.

And 100% this would be on merit we stayed up because another team had broken the rules.

I always find this a very strange position to take. Seasons like last year happen as a result of our regular involvement in the premier league. Unless you’re pining for days of bimbling around the bottom half of the championship.

It's an article missing the big detail of what the 2023 loss is.

They can probably lose £50-£60m in 2023 before hitting FFP issues.

If they've lost more than that they can probably make a good argument, as the article says, that they are operating sustainably by pointing at the post period sale (assuming they can also demonstrate they aren't making big losses in 2024).

Forest getting done and having a large points would be pure karma for the cheating Greek owner after he marched into the refs room during half time in our game at Olympiacos........

Why didn't Everton sell a couple of players to try and mitigate any points deduction?

We dont forget these things do we?

Every time my Missus hears me grumbling (or more likely playing feck) she rolls her eyes and says "what have they done against Burnley then". To be fair she is usually correct with her assumptions. Having worked our way up and down the 4 divisions over the last 40 years there are now few clubs who are not in my little black book due to some indiscretion which has affected the Clarets or our town.

Vegas mentioned Forest / Olympiakos.

I'll give you the following.

1. When we tried to sign Angela Lansbury from Forest? What a shambles?

Other clubs / people ? Where do I start?

2. Paul Lambert using us to engineer a better contract at Norwich?

And so it goes on. Any others have petty feuds going on in their heads?

You may call Vegas’s example a petty feud but some of us spend hundreds or thousands going over there and got shafted by that referee right after the half time rant. For everyone else, it deprived them of the only prolonged European adventure most of us are ever likely to witness. OK, we didn't help ourselves by playing reserves, but the referee’s demeanour noticeably changed during that half time interval.

It’d be lovely to stuff Forest is all that posters are saying, and rightly so, if we get help from the Premier League, so much the better :D

My understanding is that the problems at Everton are cashflow relating to the stadium - which is now exempt as far as PSR is concerned - the club operation is operating within PSR, in part thanks to the nature of the transfer dealings in the summer where very little was spent upfront. Any sales in this window will be to meet the cash requirements for the stadium, for the rest of the financial window if as widely stated 777 Partners pull out of their monthly contributions.

I understand that the penalties to Laing O'Rourke for delays in payments are very significant and it is the stadium payment issues that are the ones that could drive the possibility of administration for the club.

It is worth noting that Laing O'Rourke reported massive financial losses in their last accounts reported in late November (https://www.constructionnews.co.uk/sect ... 0-11-2023/) they may struggle if the Everton stadium payments came to an end abruptly

Well they sold Richarlison. Given their hefty wages and overspending they probably had a limited number of attractive players to sell (Calvert Lewin would be the obvious but losing him would probably cost them more points).

Selling recent signings at a loss could also crystallise losses on transfers and force early repayments of transfer installments.
