Re: Markets v Geordies
Gordon and Hume have handbags where both players normally get a yellow, Gordon gets the yellow, but Hume already on a yellow gets away with it.

Hume should be off. Weak refereeing.

Gordon should always get a yellow every time he walk on the pitch - he is an obvious cheatclaretburns wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 2:15 pmGordon and Hume have handbags where both players normally get a yellow, Gordon gets the yellow, but Hume already on a yellow gets away with it.
Hume was really lucky
Re: Markets v Geordies
Clarke is definitely not ready to be playing PL football this season, in my opinion.

Re: Markets v Geordies
Prem refs are awful. Just been giving freekicks where:
1. Clarke tackled. Ball got but shin on shin in passing. Not enough to down Clarke but as in tight spot, visibly throws himself to ground. FK.
2. Guimaraes not getting Ball. Throws body into Sunderland player a yard from Ball. Goes down although he did the hurtling, he gets the FK.
That should have been 1. Nothing. 2. FK Sunderland for obstruction.

Made me laugh my arse off when I heard about the 'Newcastle Bar' at the Stadium of Light. Goes to show that some owners/commercial managers are a world away from ordinary fans.

Re: Markets v Geordies
Which just highlights what a load of rubbish VAR is.
No foul committed at all, two players doing the same thing and referee knew what was going on. You do not get to be a PL referee without seeing this week in and week out as you develop.
It is only when you have worked hard to get to the top level that those ruining the game decide that they need a committee to sort out results.
A derby match officiated with common sense and was all the more enjoyable to watch than many sterile PL matches.

Sunderland never turned up,they were miles off the pace and let down their long suffering fans with a half hearted performance

Re: Markets v Geordies
Hardly comparing apples with apples though. A state owned football club who have spent hundreds of millions vs a championship club who’ve have to rebuild after a decade of mismanagement. Hardly shocking the gulf between them.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 2:37 pmPeno Toon.

Re: Markets v Geordies
I don't think it was half hearted, just a gigantic difference in quality. They are currently in the play-offs, I really don't get why people are remotely worried about us being relegated and not bouncing back.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 2:46 pmSunderland never turned up,they were miles off the pace and let down their long suffering fans with a half hearted performance

Men against boys, Newcastle never needed to get out of 2nd gear, illustrates the gulf in class between high PL side and championship mediocrity.

Shows the difference between championship and PL.
