O Shea 7
Ekdal 7
Al dahkil 6 (because out of position)

The rest of them and Vincent can hang their heads in shame tonight at thoroughly pathetic performance

Trafford 8 - excellent tonight
Vitinho 6 - end product woeful again, otherwise fine
O’Shea 8* - won his battles
Ekdal 8 - deserved a clean sheet
Al-Dakhil 6 - clearly out of position but not his fault
JBG 5 - sausage feet tonight
Brownhill 5 - better 2nd half
Cullen 7 - tenacious and played a cracking ball to Vitinho
Odobert 7 - great assist and generally lively
Amdouni 7 - not everything came off but got a goal and should have had an assist
Foster 7 - put in a proper shift, only player who could match Luton’s physicality

I've tried to be positive all season, but that was clueless and inept from beginning to end. You'll struggle to see any team lose as many 50/50 battles outside of the pub leagues.

Outmuscled, outthought and outplayed, we got what we deserved.

Trafford..7
Vit...6
Data.. 8
Ekdal..7
Al Dak..7
JB..6
JCull..7
Odob..7
JBG..7
ZA..7
LF..5..

God only knows what Bensons done but it must have been bad....and why Foster was left up front practically on his knees after 60 mins..he could play for another week against those 2 big strapping mushes at the back and not look like scoring.

Season over now...just hope we can get somewhere near balancing the books over the summer.

Trafford 8* - Very accomplished tonight. Made one mistake in trying to come for a ball he was never getting, but inept officiating is not his fault. Unforgivable from the officials.
Vitinho 6 - frustrating because he’s clearly got ability but decisions making and crossing is miles off.
O’Shea 8 - Solid against a very physical team.
Ekdal 7 - As above. Strong performance given his lack of game time.
Al-Dakhil 6 - struggled a bit at first with positioning but got more comfortable as the game went on.
JBG 5 - I’m not sure he offers enough anymore.
Brownhill 6 - Steady.
Cullen 7 - Played well enough.
Odobert 7 - struggles to get involved at times but when he does he affects the game.
Amdouni 7 - if we can unlock this guys potential he will be special. His close control is superb. Not much is coming off for him at the moment but his ability is clear to see.
Foster 7 - did all he could, matched them physically. Not really a game that plays to his strengths.

Roberts 5 - looked rusty.

Trafford 7 - I'd held back posting my marks until I saw their goal back, and I have to say I think it's a foul. How VAR doesn't rule that out is a disgrace!
Vitinho 6
Ekdal 8
O'Shea 7
Al-Dakhil 6

Cullen 8
Brownhill 6
Amdouni 6
Foster 6

Roberts 6

Not sure we deserved to win overall, but it's a tough one to take with the decision not to rule out the equaliser. No way does that goal stand against a big team.

Kompany 4- it all feels very wrong and the team a disjointed mess .

One of the worst games to witness in 10 yrs , 2 dreadful teams dukeing it out in a turgid sh1tfest of misplaced passes , deflections and general pub league fare . That we utterly failed to dominate this lot at home tells its own story .

Got what we deserved. Don’t feel that despondent really. We are a really soft team. Awful first half and negative in the second. Dodgy decision but didn’t do enough and thoroughly deserve to be relegated.

Trafford 7
Vitinho 5 a fan normally but poor tonight
O Shea 6
Ekdal 7 played well
Al Dakhil 6
Cullen 6
Brownhill 6
JBG 5 lost pace will never beat a man and no threat
Amdouni 5 some lovely touches and a player in there but offers nothing for 3/4 of the match and quite weak. Needs to be more.
Odobert 7
Foster 7

Roberts 5
Brun Larsen didn’t offer anything
Tresor pathetic played like a fairy

Trafford 7 - Poor decision making for the equaliser but it was a definite foul
Vitinho 5 - Best full back on show out of the 3 to play tonight. Still doesn’t mean he’s any good
Ekdal 7 - Good up to the equaliser. Should have challenged Morris better
O ‘Shea 8 - Best player on the field tonight
Al Dakhil 3 - If he’s the back up left back we’re stuffed
JBG 5 - Should have scored and did very little else
Brownhill 4 - Poor today. Got bossed in midfield
Cullen 5 - Not his worst game but too small and weak for that position
Odobert 7 - Did well and set up the goal
Amdouni 3 - He’s a lazy b******
Foster 7 - Ran his socks off and tried to make things work

Roberts 4 - Came on…let the crosses come into the box..did rag all else
JBL 3 - Did he touch the ball?
Tresor 3 - Did he touch the ball?

We got what we deserved today at most and that was a point. Does that make the farcical refereeing decision at the end justify the result…not on your nelly! This Burnley team is a spineless, weak outfit and probably wouldn’t get in the play offs in the championship the way we play. Kompanys subs were baffling at best again and the joke of the equaliser just cracks over our very poor management of games.

Trafford 8 played well and clear foul
Vithinio 5 poor again
Al Dakhil 5 looked predictably lost at left back
Ekdal 7 pretty solid
O’Shea 7 as above
Cullen 6 did ok
Brownhill 6 as above
Amdouni 5 dreadful bar his goal
Foster 6 tried hard but not much came off running on empty after 70 mins
Odobert 6 few runs but not as effective as recent games.
JBG 6 very average tonight

Subs:
Roberts 5
Tresor & Larson 3 and that is being generous both a disgrace to the shirt when they came on.

Tonight kind of summed up the season totally disjointed and it’ll be a relief when it’s over unless an absolute miracle occurs and we play players who actually look like they give a ****.

Trafford 5 - Thought it was a foul but it's also bad goalkeeping and it cost us. Harsh but that's what the top level is.
Vitinho 5
Ekdal 6
O'Shea 7
Al-Dakhil 4 - Shouldn't have been selected as full back as it's obviously not a position he can play but that was nevertheless woeful.
Gudmundsson 6
Cullen 5
Brownhill 6
Amdouni 5 - would have been lower without the goal; he's infuriating, loses possession, makes poor choices, fades away.
Foster 6

Barclay was the best player on the pitch by a mile.

We were awful. What is the manager playing at? I've a lot of time for him but I think it's close to turning. There were moments, particularly first half, where it seemed everyone around me was united in near fury at both our appalling defending and the repeated sideways/backwards/sideways/give it away nonsense when we did have the ball.

Trafford - 7 - thought he had a very commendable night up until the goal and commanded his area well. He is fouled for the goal but ironically given the general clamour for keepers to come, I think he may reflect that given it was a floaty cross, we had 3 centre halves in there with 2 big forwards and so there was a lot of traffic, and the header is ultimately from some way out, he'd have been better staying at home.

Vitinho - 7 - very shaky first 25 minutes but solid after that.

Al Dakhil- 6 - clearly out of position and uncomfortable but stuck at it manfully despite being routinely left with two men. More comfortable in the back 3 but I think should do more against Morris for the goal even allowing for the foul.

O'Shea - 9 - absolutely heroic throughout as we defended crosses exceptionally well, particularly in that 15 minute period where we were on the ropes a bit first half.

Ekdal - 8 - struggled with then physicality a few times but was an authoritative figure at the back and used the ball intelligently.

Cullen - 7 - a tidy night of ratting and neat passing meant we didn't miss Berge too much.

Brownhill- 7 - lacked composure in that 15 minutes of the first half when we lost the plot but otherwise competed well.

JBG - 6 - no accident that we defended the right side much better and he provided a few neat moments even if his last cross butchered a golden chance to kill the game.

Odobert - 6 - wonderful assist for the goal and generally a threat but was a bit wasteful on other occasions and Luton had a plan to expose his lack of defensive awareness - and it worked until we went to a back 5.

Amdouni - 5 - took the goal nicely but otherwise he was nowhere near the standard either with the ball or more particularly defensively. He neither locked onto Barkley to stop him running the game in the 6 position, nor stooped their right centre half stepping forward to overload their right flank. Compare to...

Foster - 8 - poured his heart and soul into chasing down every ball and was out on his feet by the end. Didn't get many breaks in attack but boy he worked hard.

Roberts- 7 - did fine in his time on the pitch.

Other subs - not on long enough but there is no way Tresor was the man for that occasion tonight.

A huge kick in the teeth. We weren't at our best but given injuries clearly impacted the team, and given the obvious pressure of the occasion, that was perhaps no surprise and apart from a 15 minute spell in the first half when we lost the plot and were bailed out by 2 outstanding centre halves, I thought we shaded the game and chances. But you cannot defend with 9 men, as we did for long periods owing to Odobert's naivety and Amdouni's lack of running, and it was inexplicable that Kompany determined that the man to help us see the game out was Tresor. Every player on the bench barring Benson and Muric would have made more sense.

For all that though, it is a clear foul on Trafford. Kompany has summed it up exactly on TNT Sport post game and it should have been given. Realistically it's a decision which kills our hopes this season. And it's a Real shame because it came just as it looked like the centre halves and goalkeeper were going to get the credit for chiselling out a win by defending the box resolutely. We've not helped ourselves but we've not had many breaks either.

Trafford - 7

Vitinho - 5 - after a shocking first half
Ekdal - 8* - alongside O'Shea thought he was excellent
O'Shea - 8
El Dakhil - 5 - again after a shocking first half, though it did feel he was hung out to dry a little

JBG - 4 - got to score early doors, got to
Brownhill - 4 - really poor
Cullen - 6 - stuck at it

Amdouni - 5 - just do the basics right please
Foster - 6 - ran his legs off
Odabert - 6 - glimpses of what he can do

Roberts - 6 -
Tresor - 3 - the one player we didn't need to come on in a backs to the wall battle. His usual disinterested self, bottled out of numerous tackles. I just don't get it
JBL - 3 - equally uninspiring

A poor performance. Where were Ramsey, Obafemi, Delcroix, Berge, Redmond? Have we built a squad full of players made of glass?

The Tresor / JBL substitutions were mind boggling - I feared the worst when they came on. They offer us nothing.

Thats said, how that's not a foul on Trafford is just staggering. VAR ineptitude goes to a whole new level tonight

Trafford 5. Was never getting anywhere near the cross foul or not. Another 2 points dropped due to him and VK subs
The rest 6 except Tresor 3.

Trafford 7 - did well, cheated at the end
Vitinho 6 - steady but his end product is diabolical
Al Dakhil 6 - grew into the game after a shakey start
Ekdal 7 - solid, needs to start when fit
O'Shea 7 - looked to have a good understanding with Ekdal
Cullen 7 - a bit more like the Josh of last season
Brownhill 7 - worked his backside off, broke up play, tried to get us moving
JBG 4 - dreadful miss, offered nothing
Odobert 6 - direct but not one of his better nights
Amdouni 4 - I'm on the fence with this lad. Some lovely touches but he gives the ball away so damn often. He's trying to over play it and his decision making is costing us.
Foster 7 - incredible work rate, some good link up play but some bad. A bit naive at times.

Roberts 5 - didn't have a great impact
Tresor 3 - get out of my club
JBL 3 - get out of my club

Vincent 3 - what the hell were the subs about? We were comfortable. How can you make one substitution (Roberts for JBG) that ends up with you moving three others into new positions? Talk about basics. Going 5 at the back was a huge error and wasn't required. Bringing Tresor and JBL on was the final nail in the coffin for the game and our season. Neither won a tackle, made a pass, made a run or did anything positive. Where's the desire to see the game out - sums them both up i'm afraid.

For me thats season probably about over in January. Not that im giving up but it looks a pretty impossible task now.
I also think thats one of the worst performances weve put in this season, utterly dreadful in possession. One of the plus points is that we now have the ability to stay in games when we arent playing well. Also thought Ekdal was excellent.

Im still baffled by the subs, we looked absolutely comfortable and there were chances regularly opening up on the break. Im convinced we win that 2 or 3 0 if we just leave it as it is. Unfortunately the old Kompany trick of overthinking it came in. He stupidly went to 5 at the back, basically gave up possession which allowed them to come on to us and launch balls into the box and make us defend, which eventually got them a goal.

Trafford 7 Its an absolutely clear foul and I cant believe VAR hasnt overturned that. Its absolutely criminal and there should be big repercussions for whoever the VAR ref was because thats our season over based on that decision.
Vitinho 5 utterly incompetent as usual
O Shea 7
Ekdal 8 dealt with their hight upfront fantastically well and showed great composure in possession. Im starting to think our best cb paetnership could be Ekdal and Delcroix
Al Dahkil 4 Rabbit in the headlights. Kept making daft overlaps in the first half that was taking away Odoberts space
Brownhill 6 worked hard but limited and a large reason why we coulsnt control the game
Cullen 5 Not good enough on the ball
Gudmundsson 7 Solid experienced, reliable. Unbelievable decision to take him off when defending a lead. Hes exactly what we needed on the pitch
Amdouni 4 Dreadful, bad decision making, gave the ball away trying to beat men exactly as he did last week when players were in better positions and got thrown around like a ragdoll by their defence.
Foster 7 - absolute workhorse tonight. Needed subbing because he was clearly absolutely knackered by the end
Odobert 7 - good when 1 v 1 but he was lazy tonight. There was an opportunity to run in behind their defence numerous times especially first half when they were too high and it would have been an easy ball in behind but he couldnt be bothered. Just wants it to feet. If he wants to progress in his career then he has to make that run.

Subs:
Roberts 7 much better than vitinho
Bruun Larsen na
Tresor na but i have to comment on this. One of the most half hearted performance ive seen in a Burnley shirt in the last 20 years. Dangling a leg into tackles, trying little flicks and losing the ball. This was a disgrace and its absolute inexcusable that he was brought on at 1 0 in a relegation dogfight. I dont want Kompany to be sacked but there would be absolutely justifiable reason if he was for consistently making decisions such as that

Berge was ill so presume a few others must have been as well like Delcroix.

It's been near-death for some time but var has finally killed the Premier league for me tonight. Whether we deserved to win or not is moot; referees should not be deciding the outcome of football matches but it's every game now. That's a foul at every level of the sport, from kids to pub to semi-pro to league football and right up to international level.

Trafford 8 had a good game, handled well, made the routine saves he needed to. Blatantly fouled for their equaliser.

Vitinho 6 awful start, improved and was probably better than Al-Dakhil at left back at the end

O'Shea 7 fine

Ekdal 7 also fine, did OK battling with their lump but outmuscled a few times

Al-Dakhil 5 I get that he's told to come tighter to the centre but their one tactic was to launch the ball crossfield to the winger and it was though he didn't realise said winger was on the pitch. Didn't help having someone so right footed at left back either.

Cullen 7 kept at Barkley well in the second half. Beaut of a ball round the corner to Vitinho.

Brownhill 6 similar to Cullen, two ratters was probably one too many though, could have done with Berge

Gudmundsson 5 used his wrong foot to miss a glorious chance early on and then again when overhitting a cross in a great position just before he was hooked

Odobert 6 nice assist, needed more of that

Amdouni 4 finished the goal well enough but he's a proper frustrating player. Does something good one minute then rubbish the next but there's too much of the little flicks, losing the ball and not working to get it back whoch isnt acceptable. Need much more from him.

Foster 7 worked unbelievably hard, Zeki needs a lesson from him

No subs on long enough but special mention to Tresor who was rancid and put zero effort in. Shouldn't be anywhere near the pitch until he sorts himself out.

Robbed. Honestly not arsed if we're relegated, at least football without VAR is still a sport.

Special mention for the outstanding Ross Barkley - the best player on the pitch today by a distance. Whilst we were chasing rainbows last summer, Luton were doing what we used to do and finding and rehabilitating a player who needed a second chance. Oh to have had his range of passing in our midfield.

Trafford - 6 - In todays game it's a foul on him, but he was never getting that cross in the 1st place. Gone from being welded to the line to trying to get everything. Keeper coach needs to have a word.
Vitinho - 5 - 1st half was really poor. 2nd half picked it up but we need bette.
Ekdal - 7 - Solid.
O'Shea - 7 - Bit shakey for 1st 20 but then did absolutely fine.
Al Dakhil - 5 - Not a left back. Exposed in 1st half but came back into it in 2nd. Still can't take a throw-in.
Brownhill - 6 - Usual stuff, would've liked him to just sit on Barkley though
Cullen - 6 - Steady away. Got around but didn't use the ball as well as he usually does.
Odobert - 7 - Looked a bit leggy at times, but still our most threatening outlet. When he went off Doughty was free to roam forward.
JBG - 6 - He's got to score that chance in 1st half
Amdouni -6 - The enigma. Not involved for ages then does something brilliant. Has to toughen up and improve final touch/ball. It will come.
Foster - 7 - Played them on his own at times. Won headers etc but final ball again needs to get better. Was knackered after 65 mins.

Subs

Trevor - 3 - Wow. Have given him benefit of the doubt so far, but that was woeful. Not up for a battle.
JBL - 5 - Never got the chance to affect the game
Roberts - 6 - Should have started in a Full back position.

The subs into a back 5 killed us. Ekdal, Al Dakhil and O'Shea didnt work out who was doing what and with Odobert goint off Doughty was free to come forward. Same as what happened in the West Ham game when Koleosho went off which released Coufal.

Trafford 8 played well
Vitinho 5 not a good RB
Al Dakhil 5 tough for.hom, they exploited that side
O'Shea 6 getting better
Ekdal 7 was strong and committed
Cullen 7 decent and wanted the ball
Brownhill 4 created nothing, gave the ball away too much
JBG 4 did nothing
Amdouni 6 extra pont for goal but created little
Odabert 6 not enough from him
Foster 6 battled well, seems isolated

Tresor 4
Roberts 5
Bruun-Larsson 4

From tv
Trafford 6 Punched at a few when he could have caught them, flapped badly at one, a couple of decent saves, in no man’s land for the goal but it would have been a foul at Old Trafford or Anfield
Vitinho 6 not a good defender
O’Shea 7 did ok against their big men
Ekdal 7 I give him man of the match because there was no one else
AlDL 7 did okay out of position
JBG 6 should have scored, played well defensively covering for Vito
Brown hill 6 men against boys in midfield
Cullen 7 men against boys in midfield
Odobert 6 good in bits
Amdouni 7 flatters to deceive, did well for goal
Foster 6 worked hard for 60 minutes, was knackered and could/should have been subbed

We were weak and lacking physicality against a strong Luton team who deserved at least a point. Bringing on Tresor and Laarsen at such a critical time was nonsense. It would have been a foul on the keeper at Old Trafford or Anfield. I am more concerned on how this team will deal with the Championship next season, as it looks like we are going down.

Trafford 6 - a perfectly competent shot stopper who is utterly unsuited for our team. He’s fouled for the goal. Unconvincing. The better goalkeeper remains on the bench.

Vitinho 6 - started off badly but grew into it

O’Shea 8 - thought he played very well

Ekdal 7 - some rustiness but generally did ok

Al Dakhil 5 - he is not a full back

JBG 6 - decent enough industry but wasted some good opportunities

Brownhill 5 - looked Championship standard

Cullen 6 - did ok, but needed more craft

Odobert 6 - some decent moments but needed a bit more from him

Amdouni 5 - unbelievably frustrating. Can do something amazing then awful

Foster 7 - worked hard

I thought we were poor. I don’t understand what we’re trying to achieve now. We appear to have abandoned our possession game for? What? I honestly don’t know. Is it because the players can’t play it? Luton having 60% possession at the Turf would have been unthinkable a few months back. I thought they wanted it a bit more, thought some of our lads shat it to be quite frank, and the less said about the contribution of Tresor, the better, because I think it would just be repeated expletives. The goal is a foul on the keeper but we can’t be putting know performances like that and expect to stay in this league. Passive, naive and almost over and out.

Trafford 8
Vitinho 6
O'Shea 8
Ekdal 7 - docked one for their goal but I bet Trafford shouted “keeper” so our guys didn’t jump
Al Dakhil 5
Gudmundsson 6
Brownhill 7
Cullen 8
Odobert 7
Foster 6
Amdouni 8
Roberts 6 - played well but the cross came from his side and we know Doughty has a great left peg

Don’t have time for full comments as just back and need to get to bed but I thought VK messed up tonight with a variety of confusing decisions, the sibs were odd because he had clearly “done a Dyche” and tried to sit on the lead, I thought Cork and Jay would have been perfect for that, rather than selling JBL and Tresor a pup by getting them to play in a way that isn't them, tight and tackling.

A word for Amdouni, far too much class for some Burnley fans to tolerate, was fantastic today, got his goal, should have got an assist too (not his fault), was tigerish throughout despite their rugby tactics (totally unpunished by a crap ref) and did some Messi-like touches which if Lyle had been on his game would have led to more goals. Lyle was 100% effort but his touch was a bit hit and miss tonight, probably through being injured last week or so. Luton were hanging on and we should have punished them.

He's not a winger. Look at Odobert and that's what a winger should do. Not just running around talking and pointing to others. Doesn't have the pace or the technical ability to offer something in offensive perspective. He comes along because he has to. Never the determination to score or get a good cross in. Defensively he's solid and that's why he's playing. Looks more like Charlie Taylor than like a real winger.

Thought JBG did ok but two massive moments that change the game the sitter in the first half and the ball he chose bizarrely to fire across in the air instead of rolling it along the floor for a tap in at the back post which was possibly his last kick of the game. That would have sealed the game.
