Weak, powder puff , gutless and simply not good enough

Post by AlargeClaret » Fri Jan 12, 2024 11:31 pm

What a shambolic game of football between 2 dreadful sides , just as well they’re just as bad upfront as us ,they had plenty of across box action 1st half .We looked like a bunch of strangers playing beach football .

It’s taken a while to fully dawn , but we’re just not good enough to even compete at home even against the dross Luton served up . With 3 of our next 4 games ,City,Liverpool,Arsenal it’s almost impossible to see a way through .

While Kompany has been dreadful and the buck stops with him , it’s hard to see another manager getting a tune out this bunch of minor European league utility players . Is Colin available ?

It all started with a summer of rank bad recruitment. A team that is unbelievably disjointed and massively overweighted with luxury type players. I’m all for bringing in young attacking talent, but it needs to be more refined and balanced with some experienced heads who know what it’s like to be in a relegation scrap.

There’s too many learning on the job. Of that starting 11 tonight, only JBG and Brownhill have any demonstrable PL experience. Either that’s the strategy and we’re advertising our young attacking talent in the shop window, or it’s criminally naive from a manager who should know better. After watching the Mission to Burnley documentary, the former appears to be the narrative being pursued.

I’ve been going on since 2002 and I can’t remember a squad that’s ever been so baby-like. A squad always has a handful of players who are raw, who need guidance, but there’s a bedding in period and over time they gradually get up to speed with the system and what we’re trying to achieve. Dyche was a master at this (see Tarkowski after a season on the fringes). Right now, the approach has shifted completely, and you struggle to see what the overriding plan is.

Tonight sealed our relegation
Not sure this side is good enough to win promotion next season.

I tend to agree, our older established players like Jack, Jay Rod, Johann will probably be too old for another season of strength sapping football and our players from last year likes of Zaroury, Benson Muric who would be crucial may not have the hearts to win like last year after the way they were cast aside this year for the overated new boys who if they think the premier league is a step to far will wonder whats hit them with two games a week and the physicality involved. We had the likes of AB for younger players to look up to and be inspired by, I don`t see anyone remotely capable of carrying that mantle, outstanding players like Tella, THB & Maatsen also some of the current crop don`t seem to have it in them to step up the physical side of their game, I fear we will lose money on players we expected to make money on which will lead to financial instability, worst case scenario being quoted, yes but I won`t be suprised if it pans out something like that and the instant return to the prem doesn`t materialise.

Did you need to start a new thread? Or were you just needing attention. There’s tons of equivalent threads. Just post on them?

Anybody who thinks we will bounce straight back with this team needs to have a serious rethink.

It won't be with "this team", will it?
