Re: VAR taking the pxxx again
The Villa player was holding back the Everton defender from coming out so a correct final decision for me . My grievance is the length of time everyone had to wait

I don't know the rules. I don't know why it was ruled out in the end. The officials, nor the commentators have explained why.

Re: VAR taking the pxxx again
Was just going to ask "so why was it ruled out" cos it certainly wasn't offside, oh hang on, it's Everton that's why.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 2:29 pmI don't know the rules. I don't know why it was ruled out in the end. The officials, nor the commentators have explained why.

Re: VAR taking the pxxx again
I'm watching the game. A fabulous strike from outside the box given offside for some reason or other, after what seemed like a five minute delay to the game.
Re: VAR taking the pxxx again
It’s a complete mystery. Oh hang on, here’s a picture with lines showing the Villa player offside. Trouble is you can’t see the player playing the ball so I’m not sure how you can give it.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 2:29 pmI don't know the rules. Re: VAR taking the pxxx again
They just shown why, just now. Player on the far side was offside.
I'm not sure why that took three minutes though.

Am I missing something? It was a mile offside. I couldn’t understand what on earth they were looking at for so long.

Re: VAR taking the pxxx again
Player not interfering goal should have stood
Re: VAR taking the pxxx again
They eventually tracked down an offside so correct decision but why so long and why not give the obvious foul on the defender. Why do I feel if that’s against us goal us given in under 30 secs

Re: VAR taking the pxxx again
Exactly. I've rewound it so seePremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 2:34 pmAm I missing something? It was a mile offside. I couldn’t understand what on earth, they were looking at for so long.
So they look at Danjuma on the floor first, so they show the player on the far side is offside with a blue line. Then they keep looking at the strike over and over and over again… presuming to see if there's a player interfering with the line of sight of Pickford.
But they could see he was he was offside in the build-up. So I didn't know why they were looking at the goal for another minute afterwards. It didn't matter.

Re: VAR taking the pxxx again
He collected the ball
Re: VAR taking the pxxx again
I think you're looking at the wrong player
Re: VAR taking the pxxx again
You may as well just flip a coin for the verdict. When you see those two goons in the VAR room scratching their heads and faffing about for just over three minutes you know top level football is doomed.
Mind you we were robbed against Villa so I don’t feel sad for them.

Sean's tactics aided by totally inept ref won the point

Aston Villa player was clipped in the penalty area after the ball was played… no penalty. Why?
There was clear contact?

No, it was ‘clear contact’ Tony, and everyone knows that it's grounds for a penalty these days. You need to learn the rules mate.

Lineker said it was a dive and I believe it was a dive. I know the rules and that was not a penalty.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 5:58 pmNo, it was ‘clear contact’ Tony, and everyone knows that it's grounds for a penalty these days. You need to learn the rules mate.

Stuart Attwell said ‘clear contact’ on the night. So I'm.not sure why a penalty wasn't given tonight.

Media darlings???? Everton? I think people have lost the plot now and are convinced every decision in any game is somehow directed at Burnley being relegated.
If and when we do get relegated, it won’t be because of VAR or any of the match officials.

Re: VAR taking the pxxx again
Luton will be a 'big club' if it means some can accuse VAR of bias. There is no conspiracy, It's a shambles but equally for everyone.claret2018 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 6:14 pmMedia darlings???? I think we all forget the media spent a decade whipping up controversy over every refereeing decision that led us on the path to VAR, they are just as happy to do the same now it's in place. Controversy = engagement.

Re: VAR taking the pxxx again
It’s funny how clear contact applies to the slightest of touches for Villa, yet nothing was clearer than Adebayo clattering Trafford on Friday but that was a coming together.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 6:13 pmStuart Attwell said ‘clear contact’ on the night. Honestly, VAR is sucking the whole life out of football for me
