Dinner Party's Help Needed

Post by Devils_Advocate » Mon Jan 15, 2024 8:42 pm

I'm getting dragged along to a dinner party this weekend and wanted to get some good old UTC's advice on what kind of topics get discussed so I can brush up on them?

A lad at work went to one for NYE and made the mistake of bringing up women's rights and was treated like a social leper (schoolboy error). So come on posters what is your go to dinner party conversation starter?

I usually find that the subject of a potential merger of Cunard and P&O helps to break the ice

Might I suggest watching the film Borat - he attends a dinner party and I think it goes reasonably well and should set the tone for a fun evening...........

Don’t mention Brexit and avoid asking the host how much they paid for the property.

Lob your keys into the centre of the dinner table and wink at any of the ladies that catches your eye.

Why not stick to your UTC persona, you know let someone give an opinion on something and then put an opposing view. Hours of fun guaranteed! :) :D

Well if that was the case, I would make sure I was appropriately dressed. I'd turn up wearing a 'Let's Make Britain Great' baseball cap and a Reform UK t-shirt.

Go with the easy topics where healthy calm debate ensues.

Brexit, Trump and Trans rights.

If struggling, just mention your mates with Andrew Tate. Folks love him.

Talk about cars, it’s a neutral subject.

After that I bore people with the benefits of solar.

Can everyone agree that Red Dwarf is under rated and still going strong to this day.... If you disagree you're a complete and utter Smeg Pot...
