Interesting that Fofana wanted to go to Sevilla rather than Burnley, but I don't suppose it's that crazy a thought.

I think this would make real sense for everyone. Would be a major coup for Hull.

Italy striker Moise Kean, 23, is close to making a loan move from Juventus to Atletico Madrid.
How is he still only 23???

No bickering or pointless debates? If we stick to this criteria the thread ain’t gonna last very long.

Yeah, even the most claret tinted specs in the world could understand that. It’s up to him now though to get his head down and make the most of it. I’m sure after the reports from Germany, he’ll want to show he can buckle down and put the work in.burnley007 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 9:08 amhttps://www.thechelseachronicle.com/tra ... his-month/

Re: Actual Transfer News - NO BICKERING or pointless debates...
Just cannot fathom the desire to sell Zaroury and Benson - Championship match winners, and that's where we are almost certain to be in a matter of months.
Instead we have:
Odobert - almost certain to be sold
Koleosho - bad injury, but likely to be sold you'd think
Bruun-Larsen - only on loan and incredibly inconsistent, not sure I would buy him regardless of league
Redmond - out for the season injured and seemingly out of Kompany's plans anyway
Churlinov - clearly no future at Burnley and in his incredibly brief appearances (I am thinking of his start away at Reading especially) didn't even look Championship level
JBG - a solid pro and squad man, but ageing and injury prone
Tresor - where do you even begin?
I would rather start the pair of them on each wing from now till the end of the season and re-integrate them ready for a promotion challenge than sell/loan/whatever them and need to somehow pick a pair of match winners out of the above.

Zaroury on loan to the Championship makes sense. He's still developing.
Benson is prime selling value at 26. Not getting a game.

Re: Actual Transfer News - NO BICKERING or pointless debates...
Would agree with that but we have to consider the human emotions in all this too. Agreed if we were to go down, they'd be ideal for next season. But look at it from their perspective, they've already performed well for us at that level, and then been pretty much cast aside this season. Surely they'd have doubts over the merits of slaving away over a championship season once again to get promoted (hopefully) and then presumably be out of favour again.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 10:18 amJust cannot fathom the desire to sell Zaroury and Benson - Championship match winners, and that's where we are almost certain to be in a matter of months.

That's the biggest problem I have with how easily Kompany has discarded players this season, he might well need to rely on these players again soon and I wouldn't blame them if their motivation was slightly less this time around.

When you put it like that! The summer window is likely going to see another significant turnover of players. Makes perfect sense to keep hold of Benson and Zaroury, if they’re willing to stick around that is.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 10:18 amJust cannot fathom the desire to sell Zaroury and Benson - Championship match winners, and that's where we are almost certain to be in a matter of months.

Re: Actual Transfer News - NO BICKERING or pointless debates...
Like most Burnley fans, I think the world of Benson. He's the kind of player you want to see in your team. He obviously played a key role in our promotion with vital goals. There's a but though. He's a player you use to make a difference against opposition that are backs against the wall. A lot of his key moments came in games last season where the opposition was set in a low block clinging on for points. So he actually did better coming off the bench (5 goals, 3 assists) than he did starting games (6 goals). He was never likely to be a regular starter this season after only making 14 last season. What's been more disappointing is we haven't used him in games where he could have made a difference. If he does leave permanently it will be a shame, but from a first xi point of view, in the cold light of day it's not the end of the world.
Re: Actual Transfer News - NO BICKERING or pointless debates...
The thing with Benson though was, that he was a much improved player in the last third of the season compared to the first 2 thirds. It's a shame he is so injury prone, still think he has much to offer us
Re: Actual Transfer News - NO BICKERING or pointless debates...
Kompany made what i thought was a telling comment a few weeks ago. They asked him about Benson and Zaroury in on if his press conferences and he said they are two different situations and hes told Zaroury that. Zarpury thrn started v Spurs.
It gave the distinct impression to me that its Benson he wants out the door permanently and Zaroury he is seeing as someone that is still developing and still in his long term plans.

Can't see any updates over the weekend. He looked almost gone last week, I wonder if there is a bidding war going on behind the scenes, (hopefully!)

How is it VKs fault Benson missed all of preseason injured and 90% of the season injured? You want him to play Benson on crutches for the sake of not “discarding players”
It’s not VKs fault Cullen Roberts Al Dakhil etc haven’t been good enough either, they were rightly dropped after being given the chance. Nor is it VKs fault the club didn’t do the deals for Maatsen and Tella.

It is his fault that Benson was not brought on at half time/or at all against Everton. It's also his fault that Al Dakhil lost his confidence from being played out of position at both left and right back.

He needs game time, it puts him in the shop window (if selling is the aim) and it gets him ready for next season, should we decide to use him in the Championship, if we drop down.

Posted by Fabrizio Romano now, so a bit more solidity than a local rag.
https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/174 ... 75839?s=20
It was an odd signing to begin with. I didn't think much of him in the Championship to think he would be an asset in the PL. Albeit barely saw much of him and Foster last season and the he gets injured for a long old while.
Interesting "what if" for when Foster was out I'll in November and Obefami was fully fit but suppose we'll never know now unless he comes back to us after the season is up.

Re: Actual Transfer News - NO BICKERING or pointless debates...
The interesting train of thought I have with Benson and his injuries is, why he had so little time off in the summer. Some of the players started training almost as soon as we’d finished the season and I’m intrigued to know if there’s any correlation between those injured and those who returned with little break. I can’t remember who they were apart from Benson (remember seeing a pic of him). That could be VKs fault if there was.KRBFC wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 4:16 pmWhy do people keep repeating this? That aside (not sure if this has been mentioned within the threads) but the huge change in personnel shouldn’t come as a shock really as I’m sure VK has done at least one interview where he has openly admitted his style is to have a big turnover of players / constantly reinventing his teams.
Obafemi out on loan is sensible as others have said, hopefully we will get some positive incoming news soon.
