Graham Potter

Post by beddie » Sun Jan 21, 2024 10:04 am

Interesting seeing Graham Potter at the Arsenal- Palace game with his young sons. I noticed he was making written notes. Perhaps I’m reading too much into it but I’m wondering if he’s already lined up for the Palace job. I think he’d be perfect for them. Thought's ?

If he has been lined up, I think attending the game to make notes would be very disrespectful to Hodgson and I don't think Potter is that kind of guy. He probably goes to lots of games when out of work.

I thought that but then decided his boys wanted to be at Arsenal.

Probably him or Steve Cooper.
Think Roy's earned the right to put his feet up in Tenerife.

His Brighton connection might not go down very well but if he started winning games they may conveniently push it into the background.

Roy is being forced out by the ageist agenda at Palace.
Short memories by Palace supporters he's the best coach they have had.Potter is a media pick with a chequered success record as is Cooper

Roy will see out the season and retire with thanks.
When you see the no marks that pick up gongs these days why he has never been knighted for services to football, around the world, I’ll never know.

Being an absolutely dreadful England manager probably isn't helpful in the knighthood discussion.

From what I understand, Potter is still getting a healthy pay check from Chelsea.

I also understand that he had been doing some consultancy work which has meant that he can keep on earning some money on top of the salary that Chelsea continue to pay him. I would believe that this has now has completed.

Perhaps, he is now just taking in games to develop his skills as a coach now and doing things to develop his coaching knowledge/skills etc?

This is purely speculative but based on what I know about the consultancy work - he may be preparing for a future role if the manager at that club doesn't succeed but may not happen this season.

Palace play Brighton soon so he could be scouting for Brighton.

Seemed a bit of a negative, backwards step going back to Hodgson, compared to say Bournemouth who took a bit of a gamble with Iraola and it looks like it's paid off.
