Esteve
Esteve
Just to balance out the obvious negatives. I thought he was excellent when he came on, composed in possesion and excellent in the air. Lets hope he can keep that up.

Re: Esteve
Impressive debut. Having a left footer at LCB just feels better. Shame the fans started getting on his case for retaining the ball which then led to our goal.
Re: Esteve
Aggressive fast and nice left foot, looked excellent
Re: Esteve
Yep he didnt deserve that but it was understandable from the fans. I was actually glad to see some anger from the support today, the general acceptance of a developing team has been nice but sometimes they need a rocket. I think the fans gave them one, they then got the support when they earnt it. It was more reminiscint of an old Turf Moor underdog type atmosphere by the end.

Re: Esteve
I’m not so sure myself, I get what you mean but we’ve such a young and inexperienced team of kids that getting on their backs could go two ways, some will crumble.Goliath wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 6:07 pmYep he didnt deserve that but it was understandable from the fans. Re: Esteve
Yep its a tricky one, theyve been lucky so far that the fans have stayed patient. We need to be careful it doesnt turn into a weekly occurence but i think they needed telling thay was unacceptable today. The clubs with the best atmosphere all tend to have that side of them when its not going well.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 6:13 pmI’m not so sure myself, I get what you mean but we’ve such a young and inexperienced team of kids that getting on their backs could go two ways, some will crumble.

Is he a loan or a loan with obligation to buy?

I've heard loan with obligation to buy based on certain conditions being met. But which division we are in is not one of those conditions. Unlike Assignon

Re: Esteve
I watched his videos after being linked and was convinced he’d be good for us. His aerial presence and aggression into the tackle is sorely needed. From what I’d seen of Assignon I was more neutral but he played really well I thought, and was faster than I expected. Both players I’d like us to sign.
Fofana is also very good but I know we don’t have an option on him, which is a shame.

Re: Esteve
He looked pretty good didn’t he? Decent on the ball, couple of good shows of strength and no slouch.
He looks a lot taller than he was billed as being too.

Re: Esteve
I'm sure Matt Williams said that he was here to stay even if we go down. He liked the fact that he wanted to be here no matter what. It's Assignon that will probably only stay if we stay up.

Re: Esteve
As the Burnley express article suggests, he isn't great on the ball, neither is O'Shea so he will look better with beyer.

Re: Esteve
Isn’t great on the ball? Apart from when he broke out with the ball and went past two of their midfielders?
He looked a big improvement on Oshea. Beyer hadn’t shown me he can handle the PL yet.

Just going off what the French football expert said, I don't think he looks as comfortable as beyer or ekdal for example.helmclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2024 9:31 amIsn’t great on the ball? Apart from when he broke out with the ball and went past two of their midfielders?

Re: Esteve
He’s not Laurent Blanc or Marcel Desailly but I’d settle for him at the moment.
Re: Esteve
Esteve looked very comfortable on the ball yesterday. Played a few lovely chipped balls into midfield areas. Good weight of pass. Being left footed helped too.

Re: Esteve
I thought he looked very decent on the ball aside from the ball he fluffed back to Trafford that went for a corner.

Re: Esteve
Saw him having a word with a few of our players, and giving a bit of direction - we've definitely been missing that, since THB last played.

Re: Esteve
I don't think many teams would put two new defenders into the team, after one training session. It was more important to get the right back position sortedBabylonClaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 11:06 pmLooked like he might be a decent player at this level which makes it all the more baffling why he didn't start

Re: Esteve
I thought the lad did well when he came on. The good thing was that when he got the ball he seemed to want to move the ball on quicker than the rest of the defenders. Of course that could have been due to us chasing the game.
But I thought he looked promising
