David Datro Fofana
Really pleased to see a loan player stand up and fight coming off the bench in two consecutive games - not accepting a result and battling to the end.
Showed great quality, pace and power - exactly what we've been crying out for along with Foster all season.
Heard people moaning because of his interview that he conducted upon signing because he misused a word whilst speaking in his non-native language!
Perfect example as to why one should always judge on actions rather than perceptions and platitudes.

Certainly doesn’t look “lazy” … maybe he was referring to Amdouni

Re: David Datro Fofana
Love his energy. A couple of wayward passes/miss control’s, but he was effervescent and enthusiastic. Two strikers finishes and loved the celebrations - someone who is delighted to be playing in this league and scoring goals.
Very reminiscent of Tella in style and a tantalising glimpse into what we could have had a version of.

Datro is also a really cool name btw.
Never heard it before - I think he gives us the slimmest of hopes, just have to get the rest of the starting XI right and who knows...

Re: David Datro Fofana
Thought the first 5 mins against City he looked very passive, but then sprung into life. He also seems to have a bit of an attitude, he’s berated team mates for not passing to him in both appearances to date.
However…I’d rather have someone who obviously cares and shows passion than someone with shoulders slumped and accepting of defeat after defeat.
He should have started today in place of Amdouni, and that isn’t with the benefit of hindsight. Amdouni is looking like a bit of a luxury who will offer the odd mazy dribble here and there but will go missing for long periods of the game.
Early in the second half we put a very similar cross in from the left that Fofana scored from and only Ramsey was near the back post and didn’t bother to attack it.
The game was calling out for this substitution fairly early doors and it should have been made at half time. Poor team selection, poor in-game decision making and a good chance of 3 points thrown away…again.

Re: David Datro Fofana
I must say his press conference didn't inspire confidence but what he shows on the pitch is what matters and that was a guy fighting for the shirt and who looked like he desperately wanted to score goals. Great to see and im hoping we now finally end the Amdouni experiment.

Great home debut. Showed a willingness to engage and hurt Fulham. Amdouni was anything but.

He's put more effort in already than VKs love child Amdouni .
Re: David Datro Fofana
Agree with the majority of this but i think we have to give some credit for the in game subs, even if they were rectifying initial mistakes.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 6:50 pmThought the first 5 mins against City he looked very passive, but then sprung into life. Esteve was very good and gave us more balance but the big one was JBG in to centre mid and Fofana on. The JBG one was a brave call and its he who opened up the game for the 2nd goal from that exact role. That was exactly why he was put there. Id have him in the team every week at the moment, either at left back, centre mid or right mid depending on circumstances.

Re: David Datro Fofana
This - he really attacked both balls into him for his goals and could've taken a whack for either of them - couldn't see Amdouni being in those positions at all.Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 6:52 pmGreat home debut. Showed a willingness to engage and hurt Fulham. Amdouni was anything but.

Re: David Datro Fofana
I've been saying all season, Amdouni looks great on the ball, but like a training cone without it.
Today, he was pretty hopeless on the ball.
Time for a rest.
Re: David Datro Fofana
Looks a character you couldn’t fail to love him after that display,as deflating as a performance that was I was really buzzing for fofana at the end.We have really signed a lot of rubbish this season. These 3 look like they could offer something but there still playing with aload of crap.

Good player will be going back to Chelsea’s first team if he keeps playing like today. His highlights at Berlin looked good also.
No chance of signing him sadly.

Re: David Datro Fofana
I’ve been super patient with Kompany this year but if he keeps starting Amdouni over Fofana it’ll soon run out.
Guy looked the only one trying in parts today. Bags two goals in 30 minutes. Have to wonder if we’d have won if he’d started.

Re: David Datro Fofana
I'm pretty sure Fofana will start next game. Amdouni shows glimpses of class but I suspect he'll be the player to make way. Foster and Fofana is a handful for most defenses.

But I’m still fuming he didn’t start today. I think we’d have won had he started.
There’s simply no time for bedding in or integrating now.

Loved his celebration for the first goal, was just what the fans and player needed. I think we have a new favourite on the cards, he'll be an absolute legend if he can score us out of the relegation zone!

Its nice to see a player looking genuinely happy to be here and showing great body language on the pitch. Compare that to Tresor, its night and day.

Re: David Datro Fofana
Looks quite raw but if Sevilla and others wanted him that is a promising sign. A bit like Maatsen he seems to think he is destined for better things but hopefully we can benefit before then. Let’s assume we need 6 wins to stay up (may be 7). This kind of poaching is what you need. They looked an easy then a lucky finish but he had the nous to get in those positions.

p.s. can we lay off the Tresor slagging off on an unrelated thread? Different people show different body language. Some are languid. Some are all energy. Judge him on output by all means.

Even putting the goals to one side, it was a really encouraging performance.
Showed more fight and determination than Amdouni has all season. Has to partner Foster up front for a string of games now IMO.

Re: David Datro Fofana
He looks good, hoping it continues. We’ve not improved of late despite changes most weeks to the selection, I don’t understand how VK only started the full back yesterday, surely, knowing we’ve had problems all season you’d have thought he’d start with the three new recruits.
Re: David Datro Fofana
I'd like to think VK will select him at Liverpool but the way the seasons gone it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't make a match day squad for a month now
Re: David Datro Fofana
