Car Park Apps
No doubt using an app will soon be the only way to park. Anybody using this method already and is there one which can be used anywhere, please? Thanks.

Re: Car Park Apps
In answer to the second part of your question, unfortunately not. I’ve used three different parking apps - RingGo, MiPermit and Good2Go - in the last few weeks alone. You’ll just have to check the signage for which app they’re using. I do tend to find them easy to use and obviously convenient if you aren’t carrying cash etc.
Re: Car Park Apps
They all seem to use different ones, I've got about 5 apps downloaded. Pay by phone seems to be most popular but it vents my spleen that they add an admin charge to each transaction, when it's fully automated and not like it's wear and tear on the parking machine etc

Re: Car Park Apps
Got about 4 apps on my phone and I’m sure there’s more to come. Drives me mad.
Re: Car Park Apps
Tried to park in Leeds not long ago and couldn’t without downloading an app. Damn annoying. I try and avoid app car parks.
Re: Car Park Apps
Only ever used RingGo and it's worked perfectly

Pretty worrying all these apps with direct access to your credit card.

Re: Car Park Apps
Newbury definitely has 2 apps
1 for on street
One for off street
I think there’s a 3rd but I can’t remember
It also costs you an extra 20p more to use them then to pay with cash, which I noticed recently when the cash ticket machine was out of order
They do honour the free 30mins though

Re: Car Park Apps
Think I’ve got 2 or 3 on my phone. How anyone is moaning about this is beyond me, it’s so much easier than having the correct change on you at all times.
Re: Car Park Apps
Just use Apple pay or Google pay which are more secure than carrying a physical card or cash around.dougcollins wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 8:27 pmPretty worrying all these apps with direct access to your credit card.

Really? Try living in a rural area with crap mobile coverage, keeping a few coins in your glove box is far easier.claret2018 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 9:09 pmThink I’ve got 2 or 3 on my phone. I’ve got about half a dozen on my phone - some are dominant in some areas. They’re ok but the worst things about them are -
There will be next to no signal where you try to park
Your app will need to be updated before you can use it.

Re: Car Park Apps
There's a car park near to us which now only allows app-payments - they've blanked off the coin slots - but whose location offers a weak EE signal and nothing via anyone else'sAmbleClaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 4:51 pmReally? Re: Car Park Apps
Whenever I get to Burnley the signal disappears so I have to use cash/credit card.

Re: Car Park Apps
I still have this problem when I come over to Burnley and park up for the game. I have to walk a few streets before I get a signal - not sure how people in the area cope with it tbh, it’s a joke.

Re: Car Park Apps
Recently had to visit someone in Durham hospital and quite conveniently the coin operated machines were all out of order ‘forcing’ me to use the app which was 20p an hour more than coinage..I know it’s not a massive deal but it all adds up for the parking company!
Also have been warned about using the qr code to access the payment side…for obvious reasons!

If they know where they are going to park, perhaps they use the app prior to arrivingSwizzlestick wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 11:05 pmI still have this problem when I come over to Burnley and park up for the game. Re: Car Park Apps
I guess if they know where they are going, which locals would, they would know how busy it normally was, Iam not suggesting doing it for a car park you don't know, but the question being asked was how do the locals cope.
Re: Car Park Apps
The car park on Towneley where the school was is a pain in the backside, the first game of the season I parked on there about 7-30 and the credit card facility was dodgy I finished up getting a ticket ,what a traffic wardens doing booking people at that time of night in the middle of nowhere?
