Top 3 hopes for next season?
Assuming we don't pull off a miracle and survive what are your top 3 hopes for things to be true by the time we start next season. Try and be realistic and it doesn't matter if what you hope to happen is seen to be positive or negative.
For me (in order of importance) it would be
1 VK is still in charge
2 Foster is still a Burnley player
3 We manage to hold on to one of Koleosho or Odobert
My bonus one which I dont think will happen would be we manage to hang on to Berge

We play players in their best positions.
Players still believe in VK
We learn a lot of valuables lessons from this season.

Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
1. Promotion- Has to be- We will be the market leader in the division again, likely with the best squad of players- we will have to go up.
2. Improved connection with the fans- Improvements to fan experience, actually making it seem like the supporters are valued, but in general we need to see effort on the pitch. We all know what the spirit in and around the club helped us to achieve with Coyle here, would be nice to get that sort of feeling back. I think Dyche created a bit of a siege mentality that helped feed in to it. It's an area that needs improvement.
3. A revised strategy in terms of recruitment and style. There's no point going down and doing the same thing as last time if we are going to come up and it still be unlikely to work for a team our size. We need to get a better balance that might transition to the PL better.

Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
1. Promotion - we’ll have a manager who delivered a 101 point season, squad which is better than that and likely some cash to play with for new signings after a sale or 2
2. Only lose 1-3 of the core/new men - I’m talking Amdouni, Foster, Berge, Brownhill, Tresor, Odobert, Koleosho… would 20m for Odobert, 15-20m for Amdouni and another 20m from squad players like Twine, Egan-Riley, Churlinov, Muric, Benson etc be enough to balance books?
3. Given hope 2, recruit quality not quantity - I want to see physicality added to the team with one eye on those players being able to compete better in the Prem. Last relegation was a lot of good technical Champ players, can we outlay that bit extra £ but on far fewer players to find some who have more potential to step up?

Tresor perhaps needs a season in the Championship to get some momentum. He has to come good because he’s costing a small fortune.
And finally, can you not see Cullen coming back in? But again, how does he feel after being cast aside? And I think Berge will sadly leave in the summer. Too good for the Championship and I imagine we’ll cash in to balance the books.

I'd just like a change and I think the majority of fans prefer the (new) old badge but yeah the kits this season are putrid.

Yes good point on Cullen. Loved him last season and a top tier player in that division. Perhaps it’s a replacement for Brownhill that I seek in that case (assuming he is leaving).TsarBomba wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 5:32 pmWould love Number 1 to happen. Keep the nucleus of the squad together, signing another 15 players isn't going to be helpful

1. Enjoy going to the Turf again.
I know we were spoilt last season, those seasons come around once in a lifetime, but to see us go down without a whimper has been difficult to watch.
I’ve had a season ticket for 30 years so I’ve seen us be cr*p. I can take that. But we’ve always had some fight in us. Hopefully next season will see that come back.

1. A new and better midfield player.
2. A second new and better midfield player
3. A third new and better midfield player
This will fix the attack, the defence and the goalkeeper.
Probably wont change the badge though.

Turning up at Turf Moor to see a good team performance.
Bringing some of our own players through like Mellon.
Winning games again and being prepared to drop players who are not up for it.

Baby steps.
1. Players who run.
2. Players who tackle.
3. Players who can defend set pieces.
All three would be huge improvements on this season and anything else a bonus.

Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
I agree with all your 3. Will post mine in a bit but they will be similar to yours.
I think 3 is really important but also we know our old system worked at that level to get us up. I wouldn’t want us getting too far ahead of ourselves so I’ll go for what works at that level but with some real focus on:
1. Defending set pieces
2. Keeper commanding his area
3. Scoring from set pieces
All of that with some more physicality added to the team, particularly in central midfield.

1. ALK saddle up and ride off into the sunset with a consortium of NW businessmen who are football fanatics taking over the reins.
2. Appointing a manager with a wealth of Championship and PL experience along with good contacts throughout the game. The individual to also keep a serious watching brief over the U 23.
3. Reverting back to known potential transfer targets who have a creditable cv in both the EFL and some possible PL experience.
A large fire sale will be needed to redress some of the very poor decision making we have witnessed this season. An absolute tragedy for both club and town.

There were loads of people with Community donation tins yesterday. I do hope people supported the club's initiative.
2.The pre match, build up video and the tags on the screens around the stands do nothing but honour our history.
3. Name the players, seriously, who don't want to be here and/or don't give 100%. Genuine request, I'm curious to learn who these shirkers are.

Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
1. We keep the core of this team together. Inevitably we’ll sell a few but I’d like them to keep the majority together. We need more stability in the squad.
2. We hit the gym. Look at Barkley today, looks an absolute unit, arms popping out of his shirt. Lokonga also. I saw a video pre-season of a gym session and we were lifting some feeble weights. We need to get much stronger physically and also ensure any new signings fit that physical mould.
3. We adapt our style to reflect more what we’ll have to do if we get promoted. I’m all for playing it out from the back but not 3 yard free kicks passed backwards and daft corner routines are not going to cut it in the Prem for us. Ever. We need to be direct and learn how to score goals and cause trouble from set-pieces, with more focus on counter attacking. Not abandoning what got us up last time but evolving it.

Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
Don’t like the negativity of assuming we are down, so……
If we stay up:
1. We finally sign that high class defensive midfield powerhouse
2. The fans start to recognise what we are up against, stop whining, and get as one with our young team
3. We begin to get our fair share of unbiased ref and VAR decisions
If we go down:
1. We keep Koleosho, Foster, Trafford and Berge (would love Amdouni or Tresor to stay and Assignon to sign permanent, as they will rip the Championship apart, but feels too much to hope for, even those first four may be optimistic)
2. The owners and Kompany show courage and grit, then go again
3. I start to get the self control to resist unhiding blocked posts on this messageboard to peep at what was written
