Re: Favourite films of all time
Goodfellas and the Godfather part 1 are probably my two favourites. Always thought the Godfather part 2 is a bit overrated.

'Hidden figures' The story of a group of American black women who worked at NASA as mathematicians. Without them, the Yanks would still be struggling to get a man into space. The racial abuse and discrimination that they had to put up with was terrible.

Re: Favourite films of all time
Ex Machina, Minority Report, Edge of Tomorrow, Oblivion, Dune (2021), Blade Runner 2049. I think there is theme there but if anyone went for The Godfather or Goodfellas wouldn't disagree.
Also really loved The Banshees of Inershirin and in times past The Big Lebowski and Withnail and I. So many really
And next week could be totally different.

Maybe not favourites but 'The Revenent' (2019) and 'The Covenant' (2023) were great films. I'd also go with Rocky, First Blood, GoodFellas, Pulp Fiction, A Bronx Tale

Re: Favourite films of all time
Krull is my fav of all time
Naff sci-fi/fantasy film from the 80’s that tried to catch onto the coat tails of Star Wars
Stuff I recommend -
Manchester by the Sea - about a man dealing with some trauma that’s explained as the film goes along
The Green Book - black, gay musician goes on a tour of the US southwest, taking an Italian as a driver/guard
Moonlight - a beautiful, simply told coming-of-age story with a focus on identity, or more specifically sexuality and how that intersects with masculinity (not my words but accurate)
(If you’re a homophobe in anyway, shape or form, don’t watch the last 2 )
The Creator is a very good film, visually stunning and thought provoking
Behind Enemy Lines - Gene Hackman and Owen Wilson are very good in this film
The Guardian - Kevin Costner made what’s basically a recruitment film for the US Coastguard, but it’s worth a watch
Million Dollar Baby - will tug on the heart strings
Ready Player One - great for older people who grew up in the 80’s, just the sheer amount of stuff/easter eggs you’ll see in it

"Kes" has got to be one of the best British films ever made.
And "Babette's Feast" is one of the best foreign films I've seen.

Hobson's choice.
A man and a Woman ( French)
La Dolce vita.. (Italian)
Network.
Blue Velvet.
Women in love.
............i could go on & on.
"Poor things"......playing now is very entertaining. Think Emma Stone will get best actress for it.
