Tony Mowbray

Post by ClaretTony » Mon Feb 19, 2024 10:40 am

Stepping down for around six to eight weeks at Birmingham to have medical treatment on an issue that was identified during his LMA health check.

All the best to him. I believe he is an exceptionally good bloke and I recall how good he was with Gary Parkinson.

I’ve never met him but I’ve spoken to people who know him and there is never a wrong word about him. His brother worked for us for a while and I’m told it was the same with him.

Comes across as a top bloke, and I'm sure he will have been quietly delighted to put one over Sunderland at the weekend - possibly the strangest sacking of the season.

Hope he makes a full recovery as soon as possible

Always respected as a player at Boro in the 80's he was their Dobbo.

There was a big disappointment that he wasn't able to get Boro up when he was manager.

Always had him in the 'Impossible to Dislike' football men.
Like the Bobby Robson type.
Never seems to lose himself.
Best wishes to him.

Glad when he left that lot down the road though.
I thought he was doing too well. ;)

I remember him losing his first wife to breast cancer at he age of 26. He married her a few months before she passed which was fantastically supportive. Came across then as a solid good guy.

Hopefully he recovers soonest from whatever this condition is. Football needs more like him.

He was a very fine player. Saw him completely nullify Alan Shearer once playing for Ipswich vs Rovers in a Cup Tie back in the nineties.

Was worried he was gonna get enough time to turn that lot down the road into a decent outfit.

Wish him nowt but the best in his quest for good health.
