Agreed. What I'm saying is I don't think we'd have been worse off this season.

How bad do you have to be? Guardiolas replacement at city? I can't believe the difference between this season and last season. Completely waste of an opportunity in the Premier league that may not come again.

Has to be "GO" just don't see the point in trusting him to bring us back up to where we are now, he's learnt nothing, and doesn't seem interested in learning, "too pig headed"

Both. It’s not that simple for Pace I would guess. For me he needs a sabbatical for 3 months. If we stay up under a caretaker manager, don’t laugh but BFS or the like . Then he goes. If we get relegated then he takes the reins, recharged and ready to go again, with fans backing I would suggest. It’s fantasy I know but that would be my favoured scenario.

It’s looking like Kompany will be filed along side the likes of Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton etc. great players who never made the transition to managers.

Re: Simple vote for Kompany to stay or go…no debate
Just got back from that shocking performance, and had time to reflect . For me we are going backwards at a far rate of knots, Its obvious VK is not learning -quite the opposite. All he can throw in are his own PL experiences and how he has seen it all before, at the same time trying to convince everyone his team are in it for the fight. The only guys in it for the fight today were Esteve , who really impressed me playing against a big dangerous striker, O'Shea, Josh Cullen who I have been campaigning for since his performance at Spurs, and Fofana .Whats ironical is if Neil Warnock was to join us,then within two weeks several players would never wear the shirt again. For VK he seems besotted with these players and has continued to start them almost every game. What am I missing ?? I remember CT saying after the 5-0 defeat v Arsenal that he no longer cared. I felt that way after today
For meVK is now damaged and badly scarred. If we cant trust him to make the right starting 11 and the right subs, how can we trust him to deal in the transfer market in Summer. VK's value has nose dived. When he joined I was so impressed on the number of players he talked into joining us. In four months he will be damaged goods, and very few people will join us because of him. His credibility has been badly tarnished, and I think he is becoming aware of it, reflected in his pre and post match comments.
Next season its likely Luton & Sheff Utd will join us. Its also likely that one, or even both of Southampton and Ipswich will still be in he Championship. Add that to the likes of Coventry, Hull,Middlesborough, Norwich-are you confident we get promotion at the first attempt again, particularly with the likes of Tella, Benson, Zarourry not likely to feature . Today we played in Palace, a Championship side at best with three of their best players out
I feel now if we could get the right guy in, with the acceptance that relegation is a certainty, that at least he has a dozen or so games to evaluate everyone still in contract in Summer. The option is we give VK until October/December allowing him to tinker again with player additions, leaving someone mid season next year to sort out a mess thats even bigger than now.
Today was really shocking, but I think for me the penny finally dropped

What all 3? It should have been recognized just how important they was to the fabric of the team & more resources & effort should have gone into getting them maybe not all 3 but at least 1. Instead a significant amount went on a goalkeeper who isn't PL ready. Awful awful recruitment.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 10:01 pmSome times deals break down despite the best intentions.

Re: Simple vote for Kompany to stay or go…no debate
Stay.
Getting rid of him now would do nothing to change our plight this season.
He's building a longterm project here (I expected mid-table or playoffs at the best last season)
But if he struggles next season, if we're not in the top 4 mix come next winter.. then I think he will be gone due to the pressure.
Next season the fans will expect much much more in the league below, spending over 100 million.. mostly on younger players for the future, anything but a playoff push next season would be a massive failure.
This season as heaped massive pressure on Kompany next season. Hope he can handle it (pressure wasn't that big when he first came)

Honestly I am in 2 minds. This season has been a busted flush since failing to beat Luton so its more about next seaaon here. Do we think we can bounce back?
I'd like to say he deserves the chance after last seaaon but being hard nosed ii think we might struggle. He has made some huge huge mistakes this season and looks to be completely and utterly exposed now.
Part of our glamour and aura last season was from Vincent's personal draw ans I think that's likely **** all next season.
After today's shambles I'm leaning more to go I think

Dyche was a warrior of the English game, mainly in the EFL. They came for Premier League football.
I have no doubt Kompany was the reason we attracted players last season, and some this year.
Kompany's reputation is/was much higher than Sean Dyche. Who was a strong/solid English centre back in his time.
Dyche can't be compared to Kompany in terms of the European/World football. Kompany can attract far better players from abroad than Dyche.. surely?

Re: Simple vote for Kompany to stay or go…no debate
I take your point to some degree, but a lot depends on circumstances at any particular club. VK was appointed in fairly chaotic times at the Turf, given that he won promotion at the first attempt in that division is no small achievement.RammyClaret61 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 9:05 pmIt’s looking like Kompany will be filed along side the likes of Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton etc. great players who never made the transition to managers.
Basing his managerial abilities at this level on one season is harsh, we aren't one of the wealthiest clubs, and he can't conjure up talent to match the divisions better teams . Yes there has been money spent, but ultimately its a lottery for numerous managers. That's why many clarets fans want him to continue.

Because he's a worse English manager than Dyche at the moment? He's still learning?
Dyche did well with a poor Watford budget, got sacked when the money boys took over.
He came to Burnley, first season from October ish to the end.. we had some awful performances as Dyche molded his style. Next season we went up, then back down.
We went back up as champions and didn't look back.
Imagine want Kompany could do given the same time?
He could also fail I know, but all I'm saying is give him enough time too.
