Re: O'Shea Booking
He headed the ball out of the Bournemouth players hands as he was taking a quick throwin.

Re: O'Shea Booking
He ran up to the touchline to wallop the matchball into the Longside Lower to give himself time, and ended up down the slope.
The Bournemouth player ignored this and simply picked a new ball off the cone to take the throw.
Dara was annoyed by this as he ended up behind him as he was taking the throw- ie out of position- so decided to head the ball out of his hands from behind.

Couldn’t quite believe what I was seeing and that’s saying something this season.

One of the more bizarre moments of the season.
Stupidity doesn’t cover it.

Re: O'Shea Booking
Not really that stupid, when your 28 seconds in and clinging on for a point you have to take one for the team

Just meant he couldn't put a tackle in for the remainder of the game.
Mindless, unprofessional.

Re: O'Shea Booking
The weird thing was I actually don't think the Bournemouth player had any intention of actually taking the throw. He'd no one to throw it to and was just feigning. O'Shea was stupid and was rightly booked. Bournemouth doing extremely similar things later and actually getting away with it is another matter!

Re: O'Shea Booking
It was utterly stupid.
He's generally done fine, and I'm not convinced it particularly impacted his defending for either goal, but it's indicative of a lack of the dressing room discipline that was a hallmark under Dyche.

I'm an old man and my eyes ain't what they used to be I thought he had head butted the guy taking the throw in
It all went downhill after that watching us has become a boring chore similar to hanging the washing out or peeling the potatoes.

Give over. Been one of our better defenders as the season's gone on.

Re: O'Shea Booking
He did it because hes a plank. Add to that he was shocking today. Theres been too much of that lack of discipline this season with 6 sendings off, and 11 games to go. VK needs to get a grip rather than tell us crap like "the players have got fire under their belly" .When we signed him VK said he was a bargain and could play for a top 6 club. And people want to give VK another chance of playing in the PL

He doesn’t fit into the system our manager wants to play.
A very strange signing.

Re: O'Shea Booking
Take one for the team? He was about to take a throw in, he wasn’t bearing down on the keeper in a one on one…
Or whoosh…. You decide, I’m easy with either.

O’Shea would have benefited from a season playing alongside a seasoned pro, a bit like Cahill and McGreal. Instead he has had some awful partners

Re: O'Shea Booking
It is. As is our five red cards, players not pressing or moving to receive even their own teammates' passes, or playing the "Ref he's had my foot off" con when they've kicked the ground. We're a world apart from that identity. How on earth people could consider that team then dirty boggles the mind versus our current ill-discipline and occasional forays into the theatrics.claretspice wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 8:24 pmIt was utterly stupid.

Re: O'Shea Booking
It was a bit daft of O'Shea to do that and receive an unnecessary yellow.
A Bournemouth player did similar later in the game and didn't receive a caution.
It's the inconsistencies from the officials I find more infuriating as much as anything.

Re: O'Shea Booking
O’Shea booking was plain ridiculous who in this side is a general a voice demanding effort there seems to be little or communication even Charlie seems quiet, the keeper and defenders should made to watch videos of Tarky & Ben and see what real defenders are like they put their bodies on the line week in and week out (and still do) they can’t all be Van Dijk’s but a lack of skill can be replaced by grit and determination

Not so strange. I guess he was intended to be back up to the likes of Beyer, Ekdal or Al Dakhil. Unfortunately all three have proved both not good enough and injury prone hence we've come to rely on O'Shea who at least is not injury prone.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 8:48 pmHe doesn’t fit into the system our manager wants to play.

Re: O'Shea Booking
To be fair, this is the type of shithousery that we’d all be loving if Barnes did it.
It was a stupid thing to do unless a quick throw had led to a goal with him out of position, then it’d have been a very clever thing to take a yellow for.

Re: O'Shea Booking
Brun Larsen going down near the touchline as well when one of their players brushed his neck, rolling around like he'd been hit by Mike Tyson, was embarrassing.spt_claret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 9:27 pmIt is. Re: O'Shea Booking
Beddie, apart from that, we can't pass accurately. I've brought the lack of ability to pass the ball up before. The lack of that basic skill, should be practised/hammered home, daily in training routines. The number of times the ball has been given away, is frustrating when a goals scored against us and annoying when an accurate pass could have lead to a goal scoring chance.
