Directors box

Post by NewClaret » Sun Mar 03, 2024 11:03 pm

Had a look over today and it looked nearly full when it’s usually half empty.

Then saw that Alan wasn’t there and obviously no JJ. Anyone know who was there?

Most of the seats not for sale but are allocated by the Chairman. Many people from over the pond are usually invited.

I think a lot of the unused players sit in there now. There was a good 8 or 9 of them walk past us in the BL just prior to kick off.

I saw that on the back of a minibus in Burnley the other day. Are they a rival firm to David Fishwick - he of the worlds largest minibus empire?

Would love to know what’s going on with DP too.

They don’t seem to promote us at all now. Maybe that partnership was short term and hasn’t worked out?

….and if it’s the set of lads I saw walking across the pitch from the BL towards the tunnel they were certainly below dress standard for the directors box. What a set of scruffs

all those standards evaporated on December 30 2020 - it is their choice but no different to JJ Watt in Jeans T-shirt and baseball cap - it is a growing trend though you still see the more traditional suit and tie at United, City, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool

That's just the way of the world, long gone are the days when everyone wore suits.

You can be wearing well over £1000 worth of clothing in just jeans, trainers and a top with a baseball cap. I remember 15 years ago you couldn't get in a bar in town wearing trainers (even Lacoste polos were banned in some places), now you've lads in caps, gym t-shirts and shorts.

I like the old fashion British values but we are no longer a British run club, I agree it looks scruffy but those days wont return anytime soon.

But as mentioned earlier in the thread - if you look at the director's box at the top clubs, club ownership and other leaders are wearing shirt and tie.

It's not just a British thing either - you won't see John Henry at Liverpool wearing a baseball cap for example.

I used to do work with Philips, they asked all their sales team and execs to NOT wear ties. The reason:

According to a study published in the medical journal Neuroradiology, wearing a necktie leads to a decrease in cerebral blood flow, which allows blood to enter the brain.

Decreased blood flow to the brain can create a myriad of health problems including brain ischemia, which can cause blindness, speaking impairments and unconsciousness.

So lads, take your ties off, they aren't doing you any favours at all.

Ties or not - they should be dressed smart and look like representatives of a Premier League football club - not like they are taking the dog out for a walk.

Everything is fair game when it isn't going your way.

There was 1 person seen walking towards the ground yesterday with one of those ghastly dryrobe jackets on, hopefully they were turned away.

It may seem trivial but there is a serious point.

Serious people dress appropriately and the attire of leaders sets a tone for the organization as a whole.

A manager wearing a crisp white shirt and a tie in club colours, for example, - sends a clear message and sets a tone and standard.

We currently have executives in baseball caps and casual jackets and a manager in a baggy white tee-shirt under a jacket and wearing a baseball cap.

We have players training in tights and snoods and gloves.

And we have the results.

So relegation is due to what people where in training and others while watching ?

Good lord. It’s a creative angle for further criticism I’ll give you that. John W Henry is probably better dressed because he only rocks up in a cup or title decider. Sheikh Mansour doesn’t even turn up. Ditto Kroenke etc. Think Todd Boehly was wearing a causal t-shirt the other month. In summary - it doesn’t matter and at least they actually show their face.

Ask yourself this - if you were in legal trouble and you went to see a lawyer - serious business - would you be more likely to hire someone wearing a suit and tie or someone in a baseball cap and tee-shirt?

If you are owner or manager of Burnley FC it should be serious business too.

I've already mentioned why wearing a tie is stupid and it's based on fact. Appearance doesn't set a tone for anything and your opinion is seemingly based on tradition and stereotype. Some of the most successful people about don't wear shirt and tie, it's 2024 not 1910

No, there is a clear difference between 'happy clappers' - who I respect for their loyalty and optimism - and the handful of people who spend their time rushing to the defence of even the slightest, mildest criticism of Alan Pace.

Its not just the Burnley Football Club who are letting their standards slip. I was home visiting family a couple of weeks ago and went for some lunch at Sycamore Farm and there was a couple of lads in there wearing baseball caps. I complained to the manager be she seemed like your typical pacebot who doesnt care less and did nothing

Ask yourself this - if you were in legal trouble and you went to see a lawyer - serious business - would you be more likely to hire someone wearing a suit and tie or someone in a baseball cap and tee-shirt?

If you are owner or manager of Burnley FC it should be serious business too.
One of the best barristers I ever worked with was very unkempt, mostly unshaven, very rarely wore a tie outside of court, sported a pony tail which at the time was almost unheard of amongst professional people.

The Krays were always very smartly turned out. In fact very Mormon in style with a crisp white shirt and black tie.

Miserable? I'm literally sat here laughing at the Pacebots contorting themselves in defence of baseball caps and open necked shirts....
