And 3 reviews burned! Either crass stupidity or extreme arrogance. Certainly unprecedented. None of them were even close.

Add a bit of panic to the stupidity & arrogance, and that's about right.

After a decent start we crumble again and use our reviews on clear edges..

I am sure watching a one day test match might be fun for some, however, it is not Test cricket. A decent batsman must play himself in and the decide how best to accumulate runs for the team. Sometimes that may be to hit out. At other times, that is a highly impractical means.

Stupid cricket.

I really do believe that England have become victims of their own hype and, just like modern society, think that they just have to add water to become successful.

Never mind, it will only be a matter of time before the authorities decide that there is no future in Test cricket and will make everything reliant on overs or balls bowled so that they can get a result each day.

From 175 for 3 to 218 all out
Bairstow 29 second highest score
India in reply are 135 for 1 from 30 overs
Dreadful day for England

Pope throwing his wicket away in the last over before lunch......set the tone for the collapse.
Very poor!

The collapse was losing 3 wickets on 175 rather than using Pope a scapegoat when England still in a good position at lunch at 100 for 2

428 for 8 now after some quick wickets.

Only 209 ahead

Credit where it's due, Bashir and Hartley have shown some bottle this morning. Match India's first innings score in our second innings then bowl them out for 200. Game won simple! :D

India ,again giving us a lesson in how to play test cricket , with their no 9 and 10 comfortably easing through 20 overs and closing on 473/8 , a lead of 255. The game’s not quite dead but Eng will need a momenteous performance with the bat .

Alaistar Cook said if we can match India’s first innings with our second innings and that would set them around 200 to win and batting last
The last wicket (8th) fell at 428 and that score could be achieved if we started to bat with the intention of protecting our wickets with care ( like the Indian players do)
This 9th wicket partnership has virtually taken any chance now away

Yes I saw your post .
You and Alistair Cook must have the same idea on this .
A compliment to you because AC , imo, is the best cricket brain on TV.

Dave, for your information, Alastair Cook and Mondsley were both in their own ways excellent cricket captains, the latter’s experience at Littleborough probably gives him the edge though! :D

Apart from 1 big score what is Popes average for 5 test matches?

Fair point but many of the others have not scored that many runs and have put catches down ( costing lots of runs).
Pope has several excellent catches and again as vice - captain the second name on the Team Sheet ( Ben Stokes would never leave him out)

There's more chance of a yeti riding Shergar down from the Himalayas and having a dump on the outfield than there is of England getting anything out of this game.

........and what a pair of deliveries to do it!

The last wicket....(stumping) didn't look out to me, on any of the replays.......don't think it will matter much to the outcome though.
